Whakatane & White Island

We treated ourselves to a trip to NZ's only active marine volcano, White Island/Whakaari. What a fantastic experience to actually walk on an active volcano, watching where we put our feet so that we didn't fall through into hot molten rock! It was an incredibly hot day (NZ is hot...) and the volcano made it even hotter. We couldn't imagine being one of the miners who worked there last century! Had a really nice swim off the boat afterwards to cool down then another great 2 hour boat trip back to the mainland - a huge pod of dolphins followed up for 15-20 minutes which was amazing to see!Leer más
