• Day 46: Lecce to Martano

    11 de mayo, Italia ⋅ 🌙 19 °C

A long walk today: 33.33 km. I really enjoyed it. I saw lots of Trulli and stone walls lanes were the theme of the day. It got very warm and the Way provided some really welcome shade and a nice breeze as I walked through some tree lined paths and back roads. When I arrived in Martano I tried to post some things home, but, when in the realm of the utterly indifferent (and incompetent), I was mucked around for two hours (told I could not send either leather, (my gloves) or silver (a trinket I'd bought in Lecce) by the postal staff, who made me fill out form after form only to say unless I could provide Italian ID, I am unable to use the postal service! I told them they were full of shit! But you know that particular type of public servent, nothing they don't want to do will happen. What a waste of time! Anyway, I had drinks and a lovely dinner with Cliff, it was his 79th birthday, and Anne-Laure and Tony.Leer más
