Day 12: Chiusi della Verna to Camaldoli

I had a few surprises today. The Way was long and difficult (30.89 km, total ascent 1607 m, total descent 1724 m). Thankfully, the very warm morning turned into a cooler afternoon. I started walking at 7:35 am and I didn't arrive at my destination until, just before 6 pm! I am exhausted. I saw a deer and a large bird of prey - it may have been an eagle, it did not look like a hawk. About 7 km in, my gaffer tape came off and about 5 km from the end, one of my poles fell to pieces! The only accommodation I could get was in a campsite on the outside of town. When I got to the Reception, the signs says to go back to into town to check in! Thankfully, three young people also had the same problem, so I asked if I could get a lift with them - they agreed. I found out why accommodation is at a premium; there is a big running event on tomorrow! When I checked in I found I wasn't getting a cabin, but a 4 man tent!
