Day 13: Camaldoli to Stia

First of all, a big shout out to Kaye, who suggested I tape my broken pole back together. It worked like magic. Kaye, you are a genius. Also, reapplying the gaffer tape on my boot worked, as it stayed on all day. It was a perfect day of walking. It got a little too warm, but only a little (29°c). The Way (20 km), did present quite a few steep ascents, but really was one long descent into Stia and was, for a great part through forests and along nature trails. I met one south bound pilgrim, from Tennessee. My accommodation tonight is a complete 180 from last night. I have a Spa suite and even a shower robe - I lay on the bed in it, in complete luxury. There is a festival on in town tonight; there are market stalls in the park, people everywhere, pony rides, and even a jazz band that walk up and down the main street occasionally. I hope I can get into a restaurant tonight.Read more
