Day 15: Consuma to Pontassieve

Rain was forecast for today, but did not appear while I was walking. The Way today (19.07 km) was mostly downhill (descent: 1024 m). I've now left the mountains and the forest. I was a little sad to leave the forest as it has been such a joy to walk through. It's so peaceful and calming. I will miss it. I saw a few south bound pilgrims today. Most seem to be going to La Verna only! I had a lovely coffee in an extremely quaint Cafe in Diacetto. I'm having dinner tonight in my accommodation - my legs, and knees, which don't like the downhill are happy I'm not walking around town looking for a restaurant. It means though, that I won't get my Aperol Spitz. I'll make up for it in Florence tomorrow. I heard from Anne-Laure this afternoon - they are in Macedonia and saw a bear on the road! That makes my boars seem a little tame. Finally, I may have mastered the gaffer tape technique; both my boot and pole are working well.Read more
