Home cooked meal with Theo!

Scott arranged for a dining experience with a local couple in Trieste. It was lovely - and thank goodness for. Google translate! Giovanni and his wife (and their Maltese, Theo) were gracious hosts who let us help cook a delicious three course meal. We started with pasta carbonara, with a vegetarian portion for Noah. Then we had eggplant parmigiana. Finally, we had an amazing tiramisu. It was all
cooked in front of us (with a minor assist from us). We enjoyed Prosecco and snacks at the start, and wine during the meal. Limoncello and caffe topped it off. Delish!!!Læs mere

Miramare Castle in Trieste; visited the Jewish Community Museum; had a drink/snack on the main square (best chocolate sundae EVER!) and saw police cadet marching band. Had a great 36 hours in Trieste!

Drove back into Slovenia and went to Postojna Cave and then arrived in Ljubljana. Had a delish dinner at a local restaurant and enjoyed the lively energy of this beautiful city.

An amazing nature walk to the Gorge through some beautiful country. But first we were approached by some crying kids who we reunited with their parents - none of whom spoke English.

Drove up to the foothills of the Julian Alps to Lake Bohinj and Lake Bled. Had dinner, saw fish in the lake and went to our last castle, Bled Castle. At the Castle we had the famous Bled Cream Cake and played cards overlooking the lake.Læs mere

RejsendeLake Bled was the first place Charlie and I went to on our Slovenia/Croatia trip in 2006. Such a story book place. We loved it. It looks like it is still mostly unspoiled and that you are having great weather. It was pouring rain most of the time we were there but was still pretty magical.

Bike Race and Pride Festival in Ljubljan

Watched the start of the Tour of Slovenia bike race and wandered through the pride festival in the park. Met a Slovenia lawyer who works to prevent racial discrimination for the government. Listening to church bells as I write this and look down on the river. Also walked by a free opera concert in the park here and a saxophone player on the bridge.Læs mere
