    Sep 12–13 in Canada 🌧 14 °C

We drove as far north as we were going on our trip to Arches Provincial Park. It was a small park with a beautiful beach. There was a bus tour from Ontatio there but after they left it wasn't busy at all. We chatted with a young family of new Canadians who were living in Corner Brook and just visiting for the day. They loved their new home in Newfoundland. Randy found a plastic bucket and collected trash and we enjoyed beachcombing in the sunshine. We headed south and our next stop was the Cow Head Lighthouse Trail. The road to the trailhead was really rough so we decided to park at the beach and walk in. Randy found another plastic container while we checked out the beach and he managed to fill that as well. As we were walking up the road Tiffany and Crystal were leaving the trail. They had been there for hours because they took in both trails. This was one of the places I really wanted to see because I'd heard there were caribou close by. We didn’t see any but we did enjoy the hike. There was open grassland followed by some impressive boulders and then a walk through the woods to a small lighthouse. On the way out we walked by the Cow Head wharf and checked out the fishing boats. We had worked up a thirst so went into town to Neddys Pub. We chatted with some locals from St Paul's who told us no one would mind if we parked at the boat ramp for the night. What a beautiful spot. There was another van parked there when we arrived but plenty of room for us. Randy saw a couple of seals and two herons. We were only 10 minutes from the parking for Western Brook Pond.Read more
