We had a quiet night in North Sydney and found a great restaurant for breakfast. The Miners Daughter was a beautiful building full of artifacts and historical background on the area. The service and food was very good and we enjoyed this stop. We wanted to pick up some lobster to bring when we visit friends on the way home. Lobster was in season in Shediac NB so we wanted to make a stop there. It was a little too far to drive in one day but we saw Tatamagouche was a manageable drive. We stopped there years ago and remembered it fondly. We enjoyed a stop in St Peters to check out the locks that allow boats to enter the Bras d'Or lake from the Atlantic. We also stopped at the Seafoam Lavender Company. What a beautiful farm on the Northumberland Strait. There was a small field that hadn't been harvested so the aroma was wonderful. They had great information on the various types of lavender and on the processes used to make their products. The gift store was hard to resist and we left with some lavender scented purchases. We arrived in Tatamagouche and checked out the historical creamery area. This would be our parking spot for the night. There was a museum, a gallery, a wooden boat builder and a small gift shop. The only thing open was the gift shop and we had a nice chat with the woman working there. She told us it was fine to park there but gave us a heads up the local theater group would be having a rehearsal later that evening. There were some nice trails and we saw three deer on the first trail. We also walked by a really cool inn close by. Someone had purchased the original train station and a number of old rail cars. The station was the office and a gift store and the rail cars were a dining room, a lounge and several sleeping accommodations. We also visited the local brewery. We really enjoyed the beer, the staff and the other patrons we met. The beer names were clever and the artwork excellent. Randy couldn't resist the poster for their Salty Sailor Lager.Read more
