Saltwater Park, Des Moines, WA

I love going to places that aren't obvious tourist destinations. This was the case with Saltwater Park, which has the feel of a local neighborhood park. During this trip I had wanted to see a Pacific sunset... but seeing the sun set over the Olympic Mountains is not what I expected here. It more than sufficed. It enhances that human element of a road trip that travel journals or Google cannot provide- picking a a spot on a whim, seeing a place people actually use on a daily basis, with the people you love.
