    Relax ☀️

    Apr 11–12 in Malta ⋅ ☀️ 22 °C

3 things that made us happy so far (thanks for the inspiration Vegaru)
    - original Bavarian pretzels at the MUC airport 🥨
    - chia seeds at the breakfast buffet 🌱
    - sunshine ☀️

Who knew that travel days could be relaxed if you don’t book a flight at 6am from an airport that is 3h away but choose a midday flight from your (more or less) local airport.
But it would not be a travel day if not for a little stress. Which began after getting the rental 🚗. Driving at night, on the “wrong” side of the road with a “not quite powerful enough” stick shift car -> not the most fun but we managed and arrived safely at our hotel.
And with “hotel” I mean resort! 🏨

The first full day was spent with getting all the snacks 🍪, exploring the area and poolside 🏊‍♂️relaxation. So far so good. Let’s see what Malta 🇲🇹 has to offer.

    Apr 13–14 in Malta ⋅ ☀️ 21 °C

3 more things we are happy about:
    - lying weather apps 🌤️
    - free samples at the ice cream shop 🍨
    - free parking everywhere 🅿️

Relaxing and spending time at the resort is great but exploring the island was part of the plan. 😎
So we unleashed all 72 horses of the Toyota Aygo X and hit the road. 🚗💨

Pepsi with a view and laid back vibes in Mellieha.
Feet in the ocean 🌊 , expensive sodas and drunken Spanish people at Mellieha bay 🏖️.
Party people 👯, construction sides 🚧but great ice cream in St. Paul’s Bay. 🍧
Colourful doors and windows, a picturesque old town, lots of tourist 📸and great coffee in Mdina/Rabat.
Views, cliffs and people who cannot park at Dingli Cliffs.
Cliffs with a hole aka. “Blue Grotto”
    Boats 🚤 , boats 🚤 , boats 🚤 and public toilets 🚻 in Marsaxlokk.

    This was fun.
Driving on the wrong side feels almost normal now. 💪

  • Gozo

    April 15 in Malta ⋅ ☀️ 16 °C

3 things we are happy about:
    - good coffee
    - cannoli with pistacho
    - no oncoming traffic in narrow streets

We kicked off the day like every day so far: breakfast buffet 🍳🥐
And as usual one starts with the healthy options -Joghurt, oats and fruits
But somehow it turns into three plates and dessert before 10am.

    Next stop: ferry! 🚢
Little Toyota onto the big boat an off to Gozo.

A short ride and hike session later:
The first (of many today) spectacular view.

    Tal-Mixta Cave overlooking Ramla Bay
A cave like a Frame for the golden-red Ramla beach, no the pictures are not color corrected. It is really that colorful!

After all that scenery, priorities shifted: coffee. immediately. ☕️
We stopped at Coffee Circus Joy – and finally found actual good coffee on an island where espresso usually means “fast and strong”

Next: The famous Xwejni Salt Pans 🧂
Endless geometric salt pools carved into the rock – it looked like someone designed the coastline with a ruler.

    Nature kept showing off at
    Wied il-Għasri 🌊
A hidden gorge with powerful waves. Slight effort to get down, but worth it.

Next stop: full-on rugged coastline at
    Dwejra Bay 🌬️
Cliffs, waves, and that raw “edge of the world” energy. We walked around, took way too many photos, and enjoyed the scenery.

    Back to civilization:
    Victoria (Rabat) 🏰
Cute streets, relaxed vibe… and most importantly: food.
We grabbed a cannoli with pistachio 🤤

On the ferry back to Malta we decided to get traditional Maltese food and even picked a restaurant. On the way there we stumbled across a kebab shop… oh well.

  • City

    Apr 16–17 in Malta ⋅ ⛅ 18 °C

3 more things that made us happy:
    - Indian butter chicken 🐓
    - floating selfie sticks 🤳
    - swimming in the ocean 🌊

After seeing almost all of Malta and Gozo these last days, there was still one part missing. The capital, Valletta. 🌆
Well maybe it was the weather 🌧️, or the fact that it was the 3rd day exploring but Valletta did not excite us as much as we expected. 🤔
Yes it is a picturesque city,
yes it does look like a film set of “Game of thrones” everywhere,
yes we had good coffee ☕️ and good (indian) food 🥘 .
But after 2h we had seen enough and headed back to the resort. 🏨

Today’s only goal was to finish my book. 📖 (Spoiler: So far I didn’t but the day is not over yet). Since the weather was nice again ☀️, we went to a beach 🏖️and then to the pool 🏊‍♂️ . We even took a dip in the still relatively cold Mediterranean Sea 🌊 and watched the sunset 🌅.
All in all a very good last day! 🤩
