    Arrived Sydney International Airport @ 08:15 Tuesday 15th May, long haul travelled 7756 miles. Cleared customs checked in luggage to Coffs Harbour, travelled by shuttle bus to domestic terminal awaiting flight. Left Sydney @ 14:35 arrived 15:40, meet by very excited Kady,Blair and Philip. Good to be home. Awesome 5 star holiday living in a postcard. What was the best part of the holiday? "EVERYTHING".Read more

    Sunday 13th May majestic Alaskan cruise ends. Arrived at Water Front Hotel 10:30am. Getting off ship bedlam 3 ship in port at once not normal. Luggage stowed on coach until 7:15pm when we were picked up at Water Front Hotel and transfered to airport for flight to Sydney. Last day in Canada walked to Gastown went shopping for last time, had lunch at The Old Spaghetti Factory and savoured our last long Island ice tea. While having ice coffee at Starbucks guy turns up with his push-bike kept us entertained until coach arrived to take us to Vancouver BC,Canada airport. Flight left at 23:50 for Australia.Read more

    Saturday 12th May, 10 degree Celsius last day on ship, all day at sea cruising inside passage. 3pm Farewell Cocktail Party with tour group. Very foggy,ship sounds fog horn every few minutes. Afternoon of packing and weighing luggage, sorting accounts,organising books. Dinner then piano lounge,back to room to finish packing. Big bag had to be in corridor by 11pm. Finished watching movie "White Fang" then goodnight.

    Friday 11th May arrived 10:00 am, 12 degrees Celsius. KETCHIKAN known as the Salmon Capital of the World.Tour with tour guide walking (another 50cent tour). 1:30pm Ketchikan's Culture discovery Tour (3.5hrs).Toteum Heritage Centre preserving original toteum poles, Alaskan history at Potlatch Park home to antique cars. Toteum poles and carving centre, a fully re-erected native Alaskan Village,gift store and gun museum. free coffee and biscuit. Dinner then entertainment with Emily And Trevor (duo pianists and singers) Enjoyed 2 shows.9:45am waiters brought chocolate treat. "Chocolate Night".Read more

    10th May Thursday woke 7:00 am, 4 degree Celsius very foggy,poor visibility then seal came right up to ship raised its head, gorgeous it's eyes were staring up at us no time for photo. Cruised Glacier Bay to Margarine Glacier - awesome,seagulls,seals,brown bear,whales. Spent most of morning on deck, needed thermal's,Parker,gloves,beanie and boots. Hot tub before gala night.surf 'n' turf steak and lobster tail. After dinner we went to Blues Band and duo piano players. Back in cabin rock n and rolling with the ship.Read more

    Travelled all night on ship arrived Skakway 5:30am 23 degrees Celsius, the northern most point of the Inside Passage once a gateway city for the Klondike gold rush early breakfast,then caught shuttle bus into town. Went back to ship for lunch then 12:45pm caught train and travelled White Pass and Yukon Route 3.5hrs. Caught shuttle bus back into town to find local library which has WiFi. Will caught shuttle bus back to ship leaving 8:30pm for Glacier Bay.Read more

  • CRUISE SHIP - JUNEAU

    Tuesday, May 8th, 21 degrees Celsius. 6:00am lots of dolphins swimming beside ship.
    6:30am speed boat came out of nowhere and pulled up along side ship (pirates) lol, later captain told us 3 pilots came on board. At 8am 8degree Celsius. Came ashore 2pm. Our tour guide did a walking tour, we shopped, we rode tramcar to Mt. Roberts. Saw a Bald Eagle "Lady Baltimore". Now sitting in library as only free WiFi. Will return to ship soon for evening meal. Will set sail at 10pm. An amazing warm sunny day.Read more

    Monday, May 7th, weather 7degrees Celsius, mostly sunny, ships clocks set back 1hour at 2:00am.Spent time exploring and finding our way around ship. After lunch went to movies saw "Murder on the Orient Express". 1st Gala Night 4 course meal. Listened to Blues Music also entertained by 2 pianists playing and singing,brilliant. When we arrived back to cabin there was an elephant made out of towels.Read more

  • VICTORIA - VANCOUVER - CRUISE SHIP

    Sunday, May 6th took ferry back across Georgia Strait to Vancouver then transfered to Canada Place Cruise Ship Terminal to board Holland America Line cruise ship M S WESTERDAM. 4:30pm social gathering with tour group. Dinner 6pm Pinnacle Grill for a Sail Away Dinner. Clocks back 1hr. each night cabin stewards set room up for the night.,with towels make animals - rabbit.Read more

    Travelled to by coach to visit and have breakfast in historic dinning room of original Butchart Gardens residence,then explored the amazing gardens. 1pm went for 45 minute tour around the streets of Victoria and Beacon Hill Park in a horse drawn carriage finishing the tour with a spectacular view of the British Columbia Legislature. Tonight 7pm special farewell dinner at the Hotel Grand Pacific.Read more

    Travelled along the Sea to Sky Highway,visited Shannon Falls. Boarded a ferry at Horseshoe Bay for cruise to Vancouver Island. While causing saw Orcas- whales. Arrived in Nanaimo, travelled by coach to Chemainus to view famous Mural Project,then to Victoria. Staying at Hotel Grand Pacific.Read more

    Travelled from Sun Peaks to Whistler via Kamloops,Vancouver then Whistler as there was a mud slip at Cache Creek. Staying at the Hilton. Went shopping in villages, pedestrian 's only, Olympic Games held here 2010. Just unbelievable.Read more

    Pleasantly mild at Jasper left at 8:00am travelled
    Yellow Highway leaving The Rockies and head west re-entered BC, stopped south face of Mt Robson, 3,954 metres, highest peak in Canadian Rockies. Now staying at the Alpine Village of Sun Peaks pedestrian only village famous for skiing and snowboarding. Another amazing dinner.Read more

    Beautiful day, light snow falling went we left Chateau Lake Louise,snow falling as we travelled on Icefields Parkway a picturesque route that winds through the Canadian Rockies past ancient glaciers,vast Icefields,sweeping valleys and pristine lakes.Stop and admired the turquoise waters of Peyton Lake
    Entering Jasper National established ln 1907 one of the oldest and largest in Canadian.We travelled to the giant Columbia Icefield. travelled by Brewster Coach up mountain where we transfered onto an Ice Explorer vehicle and journeyed right onto the Athabasca Glacier where we walked on the ice. North stopping at Athabasca Falls. Staying at The Fairmont Jasper Park Lodge mountain retreat located on the shores of Lake Beauvert. Dinner at Orson tractors, magic day.

    Meet a Mountie. Sight seeing tour of Banff boarded Banff gondola ascended to top Sulphur Mountain. 2 hours to explore Banff shopping centre, then travelled along Trans-Canada Highway towards Lake Louise. Travel Banff National park to Moraine Lake, a glacially fed lake in The Valley of the ten Peaks. Arrived at Lake Louise, the "Jewell of the Rockies", a beautiful blue-green lake set against the backdrop of Victoria Glacier. Tour given by Mountain Heritage Guide,awestruck by sweeping panoramic views. Stayed at The Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise. Dinner @ 8pm tonight @ Walliser overlooking Banff golf course.Read more

    Breakfast in dining room, excellent. Courtesy car into Banaff. Shopped in the shop "The Spirit Of Christmas" amazing overwhelmed by number choices. Had a beaver tail, yum yum. Returned to hotel by bus. Excursion by bus to Cave and Basin National historic sites. dinner at German Restaurant. After dinner went for swim in hot springs.Read more

    Today the Rocky Mountaineer continued east towards the Canadian Rockies. Journeyed through vast ranchlands along the South Thompson River to Shuswap Lake. The Kicking Horse Pass, viewing engineers marvel of the Spiral Tunnels and cross over the Continental Divide into the province of Alberta. Continue to Banaff National Park, established in 1885 as Canada's first national park. Coach picked us up from train,transferred by our coach to the magnificent "Castle in the Rockies", Fairmont Bnaff Springs Hotel after a Scottish Baronial Castle, arrived 19:30 Hrs.Walked into town via Bow River warm sunny evening views amazing, ordered a coke and got ice cream in a cone,eventually got a coke. Caught transit bus back to hotel.Read more

    Bused from Four Seasons Hotel to railway station. Walked on red carpet and bagpiped onto Rocky Mountainee train, travelling Gold Coast and travelling Gold Leaf to Kamloops. We passed through fertile fields of Fraser Valley, viewed the towering Peaks of the Coastal Mountains before entering the Frazer Canyon. saw the thundering water of Hell's Gate, train followed the Thompson River to Kamloops, staying at Sandman signature hotel.Read more

    B'fast Four Seasons Hotel Vancouver. 8:30 am Vancouver City Tour - Brand new coach. Toured through Millennium gate, Gaston, Stanley Park,Granville Island - walked through amazing market, bought Roger's chocolates. Returned hotel around 1230pm. Walked and caught shuttle bus to Capilano Suspension Bridge Park. Tonight we walked to Gaston, had dinner at Spaghetti Factory, tasted long Island peach ice tea - to die for. experienced Gas clock in full operation at 9.00 pm enjoyed bright lights while walking home.Read more

    Sydney to Vancouver 14+ hours by plane (Air Canada). departed International airport @ 10:10pm very long haul so glad when we arrived in Vancouver BC Canada @ 07:30 Wednesday 25th April. Travelled 7756 miles. The view from plane snow capped mountains. Streets of Vancouver adorned wit large pots of colourful tulips,cherry trees in full blossom,cherry blossom festival this month. Staying at Four Seasons Hotel, down town Vancouver. 6:30pm Welcome dinner where Graig Smith (tour director)welcomed us as Rockies Explorer's and that we have arrived in British Columbia (BC) Canada's most Western Province and that we are in Vancouver,BC's largest city.Read more

    Left Coffs Harbour on Virgin Australia @ 12:25 arrived In Sydney 13:30. Booked into motel,trained it from airport to Townhall meet with Nicole,Daniel & Harper for dinner and Karen who is travelling with me it is my birthday. So good to see them. Very enjoyable evening Nicole drove us back to motel after dinner.Read more
