We made it, but our luggage didn't !

Landed early 5;50am, our luggage did not make it. Filed a claim, should be here tomorrow morning, only one flight per day. Oh well. 45 minute ride to hotel,arnovoholl. checked in early for extra $, included breakfast. We were hungry and tired. Had pickled herring ! Got our room over looking the fjord across the street, very nice, although visibility is not so good, very overcast, gloomy. ICELANDAIR gave us 'overnight 'bag with essentials which included a white large t shirt. Our room is very European modern. Clean and fresh. Time to crash for a few hours, then to orientation at 5:30pm to meet our tour manager. Slept for a few hours. Walked over to the Main Street to get a bite to eat and do some shopping for warm clothing. We had a great Jam Burger,a burger with blue & Brie cheese,arugula topped with jam! Really tasty, at Prikio Kaffihus. Bought some fleece lined leggings and a traditional wool knitted headband for warmth. Went up to 8 th floor to meet our tour guide Gulla,and fellow travelers. All very nice. Had a small bite at Sky, 8th floor, Cristi had potato leek soup which was average at best, I had orange pickled herring on homemade rye bread, it was wonderful! We meet at 8 pm to go see northern lights !! Fingers crossed. We drove for about an hour into the pitch dark country, pulled into an area with a small restaurant. Stood out side for quite awhile freezing and taking pictures of ourselves freezing waiting to see whatever we were suppose to see. We got a hot chocolate with peppermint schnapps and a slice of carrot cake , $36 later! We went outside and explored the are with a flashlight.
Founds some steps that took us to a black sand beach! Who knew?! Even though we could see so many stars in the dark sky, no northern lights :( Gulla said maybe well try tomorrow night. Back to hotel by midnight.Baca lagi
