SFO to FLR Thursday Sept 7th & 8th

Got on the 2o'clock to Frankfurt arrived 10am Friday sept 8 flight to Florence was cancelled so they redirected us to Bologna. Lufthansa bus took us to Florence. Taxi to B&B De'Biffi and the elevator was not working (UGH) so we walked up 70 steps. After resting and refreshening we walked the Duomo, which was 1 1/2 blocks away, found a cafe on the corner and had our 1st aperol. The weather is wonderful, mid to high 70's with some cloud cover perfect walking conditions. We walked around absorbing the sites and found our way to Tattoria de Benvenuto for fried pizza balls. Since we had 30 minutes before they opened we walked to our old Hotel Balestri and down to Ponte Veccio, I was surprised we found our way without any trouble. We had prosciutto, buratta and fried balls appetizer and gnocchi w/ Gorgonzola sauce. Since Cari hadn't tasted the fried balls the last time she throughly enjoy them. We were stuffed when we left and proceeded to walk back for the evening. Along the way there was a line of people at a small shop and we asked what they were waiting for and they said the best and cheapest porchetta sandwiches. We remembered how busy it was from the last time. As we walked home we bought water and Cari bought a calendar. One last time up 70 steps for the day. Good Night!!Read more
