    February 8 in Jordan ⋅ ☁️ 70 °F

We left our Dead Sea resort and headed to Mount Nebo, a sacred, elevated ridge traditionally believed to be where Moses viewed the Promised Land. It is an important pilgrimage site for Christians, Jews, and Muslims and is also believed to be the place of Moses’ death and burial, though this has never been confirmed. The site is home to the Basilica of Moses, built in the 4th century and renowned for its stunning mosaics.

After visiting a local mosaic school affiliated with the Queen Noor Foundation, we continued on to Madaba. The main highlight was St. George’s Church, famous for the Madaba Mosaic Map—a detailed 6th-century floor mosaic depicting the Holy Land. Our guide did an excellent job explaining its significance and even shared that he had been baptized in this very church.

We wrapped up the visit with a traditional lunch just steps away from the church.
