Day #155 Uzbekistan (part 1)

Up early to do the walking tour in Samarkand before the heat kicks in. It hit 42 degrees again today.

First stop was Gur-Emir Mausoleum, where Amur Timur (the Chinggis Khan of Uzbekistan) is buried.

We then visited Registan Square which is surrounded by three madrasahs (old Islamic schools).

The architecture is beautiful in all the buildings. They are so colourful and the designs are very intricate.

We had a quick stop at the Bibi-Khaynm mosque, which was named after and built for Amir Temur's favourite wife (he had 43 in total!).Leia mais
