• Day #158 Uzbekistan/Georgia

    July 25, 2025 in Georgia ⋅ ⛅ 28 °C

Up early to catch the flight to Tblisi, Georgia.

We joined a walking tour early afternoon to see the main places in the city. It's nice, with lots of old architecture:
    - Berikoba statue to celebrate the harvest.
    - Gabriadze puppet theatre, looks old but built in 2010.
    - The Basilica that was built in the 5th century.
    - The church where Stalin got married in 1906.
    - The bridge of peace, which was donated by Italy.
    - The Mother of Georgia monument represents all women in Georgia. Built in the 1950s, it faces Moscow.

There are over 300 churches named after St. George in Georgia and they celebrate St. George's day twice per year.

Georgia means 'land of the farmers.'

There are 33 letters in the Georgian alphabet and they pronounce every letter. The sounds of the letters never change.
