    Punakha to Paro, May 5, 2026

    May 5, a morning walk to the Temple of Fertility, then a bus ride from Punakha to Paro with stops at a 300 plus years old house built of timbers and large adobe blocks for lunch followed by a dance performance by eight dancers and a couple of musicians. Very entertaining. A stop at the chain bridge, a 15th century project. Then a visit to a small incense factory where herbs and plant parts are ground to a fine paste, extruded into thin rods by a press, then packaged and sold. In the late afternoon we arrived at our upscale hotel, Naxsel, with a distant view of the Tiger's Nest monastery/temple complex high on a cliff on the other side of the valley.Read more
