    Beijing Day 2

    April 23 in China ⋅ ⛅ 15 °C

Up early. Macy and Erin’s room was so hot over night (the room also had a mahjong room) that we packed up after breakfast and requested a new room.

Katherine our guide picked us up with van at 8:30 and off to the 800 year old man made lake. We walked around and learnt about how building markings on house can tell everyone how important and wealthy you are. Traditional Chinese lunch.

We walked the shopping area then off to the National Opera building which was built for the Olympics. Then getting passports checked 4 times and 3 security/bag checks we got to Tianamen square. Chairman Mao is in a crystal tomb which is open for 3 hours per day. Wandered around there and then to forbidden city. Huge place. Kids were photographed by other kids and Macy was also a big hit.

Peeking duck for dinner and a fun walk around the traditional supermarket. Now back in traffic again and to hotel for hopefully a swim.
