• Griffith Observatory~💕

This time my lens led me to Los Angeles. The world-famous Griffith Observatory is definitely one of LA’s must-visit spots — though I didn’t go inside (I think there’s an admission fee for exhibitions). I arrived a bit late, just as the sun was about to set, so I had to shoot in a rush. Originally, I’d planned to take public transit, but I ended up on the wrong bus for a stretch, so I quickly changed tactics and grabbed an Uber. I’d also thought about hiking up the hill behind for a panoramic shot, but it was already too late. Still, I’m glad I managed to capture the last of the sunset and the beautiful blue hour after dusk. If you drive, you’ll need to park in the mid-hill lot and either walk or hop on the DASH shuttle to reach the top. The day I went, I booked an Uber for about 30 miles, which cost around $40 and took an hour — totally worth it in my opinion. Getting dropped right at the summit is definitely the most convenient option. For public transit, you can take the metro to Vermont/Sunset station, where the DASH shuttle stops nearby. When I came down from the observatory, the shuttle was free. Now about the photos — the night view is absolutely stunning. Silhouettes against the blue hour just after sunset are simply breathtaking. For night shots, I’d suggest bringing a mini tripod to get clearer long exposures without cranking up the ISO too high. Otherwise, you can place your camera on the viewing platform for a steady shot, though the angle will be fixed. There are plenty of great spots perfect for portrait shots too. All in all, Griffith Observatory is totally worth the visit. Even after a day of intense California sunshine, the evening light left behind the softest, most gentle glow.

Tip: Consider booking an Uber in advance — it’s often cheaper, and it takes you straight to the top.
