  • Packed and ready to go

    July 17, 2018 in New Zealand ⋅ ☀️ 8 °C

Suitcases all packed. We are leaving for San Francisco today. A slight panic this morning when Robin couldn't find his wallet. Panic over. It has been found😀 Off to a good start. May God and our luggage go with us.Read more

  • San Francisco

    July 18, 2018 in the United States ⋅ ⛅ 17 °C

Have finally made it. Flights were all on time but when we landed at SF there were no parks available for the plane so sat on the tarmac for 30 mins. Getting through security took 90 minutes even though we had electronic passports. Robins fingers wouldn't make finger prints on their machine😀Finger prints all worn down from hard work. In the end they just took my fingerprints and photo and let Robin through with a photo. It took another hour to get to our hotel. We were all checked in and went to our room and it was still being cleaned. Were ready for a rest by then so sat and waited in the room until it was finished. 4:47 pm here so will go for an explore and a bite to eat to get into local time. 24 degrees. The scary little towel creature was on our bed.Read more

  • Redwood Forest

    July 20, 2018 in the United States ⋅ ⛅ 19 °C

  • New York

    July 22, 2018 in the United States ⋅ ⛅ 23 °C

After leaving San Francisco hotel to fly to New York at 7am it was 10:30pm by the time we got dropped at our hotel in New York. There was a note at the hotel for us to say we had to meet the tour guide in the Lobby at 6:45am the next morning. Our body clocks were still adjusting to SF time so took a while to get to sleep, then up and away today for a tour of the city. Photos show some of the sights. Visiting the September 11 memorial was interesting, as was seeing Central Park and Statue of Liberty from a distance.
The tour finished at lunch time and we went exploring on our own. Lots of places to eat but no one is interested in serving me when I ask what they have, that is gluten free. So far I have managed to find something to eat. Neighbourhood Deli's sell fresh fruit so we are enjoying that.

  • Washington DC

    July 23, 2018 in the United States ⋅ 🌧 23 °C

New York, New Jersey, Maryland, Delaware, New Hampshire and Pennsylvania are some of the states we have been through today. We are a bit over seeing memorials today. It is 9:30pm and we are sitting on the bus instead of looking at the last memorial of the day. It cost $450million! All fundraised by the community. Makes the pool at Mosgiel look easy. Have just been to Martin Luther King's memorial. It was bucketing down with rain but worth looking at. Tomorrow is a day at Washington DC looking at memorials. We are thinking we will do our own thing instead of looking at more monuments.Read more

    July 26, 2018 in the United States ⋅ ⛅ 27 °C

We went from Usa into Canada yesterday and stayed the night at Niagra Falls. I will get some of Robin's photos to post of the falls. I didn't take my camera on to the boat. We stopped at this cute fruit stall for lunch, before we went back into Usa and are staying at a cute hotel in the Dearbourn area. We have had a swim in the pool which was so good after sitting on the bus most of the day.Read more

  • Chicago

    July 27, 2018 in the United States ⋅ 🌙 19 °C

We had another big road trip today after having a couple of hours at the Henry Ford Museum. It was very interesting and we think the Early Settlers Museum in Dunedin is of a similar high standard.
We are now in Chicago and have a room on the 21st floor with great views. We are here for two nights so looking forward to doing a bit of exploring on our own.Read more

  • Another day in Chicago

    July 28, 2018 in the United States ⋅ ⛅ 24 °C

This morning we did a boat cruise then had the rest of the day to explore on our own. The highlight of my day was finding a place that sold turkey and salad sandwiches in gluten free bread. The bread was delicious and they heated it up. So yummy!Read more

  • Wisconsin

    July 29, 2018 in the United States ⋅ ⛅ 27 °C

We stopped for lunch in Madison, a lovely town where there was a band playing in the town square and a market day packed with food and flower stalls. The Wisconsin Capitol building is in the middle of the square. Each of the four sides of the building looks the same which made it hard to find our way back to the bus. It is the first time I have had to use my phone to find Robin who got a bit lost. I found him and we made it back to the bus just in time. The tour director runs a tight ship and we are all too scared to be late.
Tonight we are in Minneapolis. Tomorrow we go to the biggest shopping mall in the world.

30 degrees today but we are enjoying the lovely weather. We spent quite a bit of time in the National Park today, then after a stop at a tourist trap for lunch we went to Mt Rushmore. Most of today was spent at Yellowstone and we have another day there tomorrow. Temperature around 30 degrees but it is a dry heat and lovely in the evenings.Read more

  • Salt Lake City

    August 6, 2018 in the United States ⋅ ☀️ 34 °C

Tonight we are in Salt Lake City. We caught the train in from our hotel to look at the Mormon Temple gardens. The gardens are lovely and such a nice place to explore in the early evening when the temperature is still 30 degrees.
Everything was closed in the city as it is Sunday here, but the city is very clean and has a safe feel to it despite us being asked for money several times at the station. The shops look great but unfortunately we leave at 7:45am tomorrow so no time for shopping.
