  • Barbie with the pickers

    27. januar 2017, New Zealand ⋅ ☀️ 16 °C

Like every day the alarm rings at 7:20 and both of us were tired as f*uck. The bed is never as cozy as it is in the morning and that makes it even harder to leave the warm bed and go outside in the cold morning.
I did the same thing like every morning and Tim needed to cut tomatoes and Capsicums and after that he needed to tide up the raspberry plants.
I was packing so much stuff for the shop and for tomorrow, cause Dot will go to a big weekly market to sell their food. I packed apricots, nectarines, capsicum, tomatoes, corn, kiwifruit, onions and cabbage. It always takes so much time!

The strawberry season is almost over and the amount of strawberries is everyday less than the day before. But Alan and Dot want as much strawberries a possible to sell. 🍓

Also The raspberry season is almost one week over and people are still asking me why we do not sell raspberries (I don't know if they do not listen or are just stupid, it is so annoying sometimes when ten people are asking me the same question in one hour).

In one or two weeks the blueberry season will start here on the farm. 🍃

We do not know how long we will be here, but I think something around one or two weeks. Because time flies. 🕗

After work we had a hot shower and drove to New World to get some meat, becaaaause we will have BBQ with the other pickers. But as the bad luck comes as it comes, our tyre was flat after we finished grocery shopping. Wow, that means we need to buy another tyre. Again! But as bad luck comes with good luck, a man was asking us if we need help and we lucky said yes. He had all the good stuff in his car to change a tyre. We also had ask Jacob, another picker, if he can help us, cause the screws from the tyre didn't move.

It is so amazing everytime something happens to us, how fast the Kiwis want to help and they don't want anything! It is normal for them, crazy! In Germany nearly nobody would help, they would look away like they haven't seen you.

However, the tyre was changed fast, we said thank you like 20 times to Jacob and the man. Thanks Kiwi man and Jacob! 😁🤗

After that we drove to the campground where the other ones were. And now I want to let you know more about them. First of all, I am the youngest of us six. Furthermore they find it funny that I am still a "teenager" 😂 but not long anymore!

Manon is just a few months older than me, she is ginger eminem and funny as hell. She sometimes doesn't get it and she plays like she does 😂 I love her for that, makes me laugh every time! She is French and will be leaving New Zealand in February 🙁 She will go to Laos or Thailand with her boyfriend.

Jacob and Andrea are a chech couple. They are so nice and can speak a little bit german. Thats so funny😁 Jacobs sings always the song "1,2 Polizei..." And Andrea told us that for her English and German are on the same basis. She sometimes understands Tim and me. He is 25 and she is 21. Both of them are working here over two months! They want to go to Australia next year to study there and therefore they need a lot of money, cause it is expensive there! They told us that the chech word for Flip Flops is 'vietnamschae' (I don't know how to write it 😂). Sooo funny!

The last one in our 'group' is Maria. She is also from Germany. Alan and Dot always say Marie to her, I don't know why, maybe it's shorter for them to say. She is he oldest of us six and will leave the farm on Sunday. She will go to Wellington to visit the Guns and Roses Concert! She is so nice and does soo delicious pizza bread!

All in all are we a good group for now and the evening was so good! Andrea had made a very good dip and Salat! Jacob had made perfect potato slices for the dip! Manon has done very great meatballs (like my mum does 😍) and Maria did also very good salats! And of course the pizza bread!

The boys had cooked the meat for us on the BBQ grill and the kebab meat, Tim and I bought, was so good! It was the best food we had in a long time! Moreover they had bought some barcadi and did a nice drink out of it!
It was such an awesome evening with great people, good laughs and perfect food!
    Again please! 😄

  • Work work work

    28. januar 2017, New Zealand ⋅ ☀️ 21 °C

Tim is the lucky one today, he has a day off and I need to work. But it wasn't much stuff to do, just the usually things in the morning and after that I renewed the cardboards with the products and prices. Alan would have a meeting at 12 o'clock and Dot is at a market down in Wellington, that means I need to take care of the shop and pick strawberries at the same time. I got the buzzer, which would let me know if a car comes or leaves. In the time I was working, Tim got a haircut (poor curls, I like them). At 2 o 'clock it was weekend for me, too! Yes! Tomorrow and Monday we will have day off.
Later we will go eating ice cream with the other pickers 😊🍦💃 And maybe have a BBQ again 😍

And we are now one month here!

  • Ice Coffee time

    28. januar 2017, New Zealand ⋅ ☀️ 21 °C

Sadly, the place where we wanted to get ice cream from, closed at 5 pm. So Maria had the amazing idea to make ice Coffee! ☕
We had some ice cream left from the BBQ yesterday, so we could use it that nothing will be over! 😄
We talked like everytime about so many things. Andrea and Jacob told us that they know Bushido and that he is famous in the Chech Republic 😲 Tim was like 'nooo way' and when he played a song, they knew it but they don't understand 😂
Then they showed us the chech version of Biene Maja, it is like the same melody, same meaning but you don't understand. 🐝

Manon told us about a farmers market where she good delicious Manuka honey from. Manuka is like the best honey you can get but it is so expensive. She payed for the pot on the picture $13. It is a good price because sometimes the honey is way more expensive in the supermarkets. And the honey tastes sooo good!

  • One day left!

    29. januar 2017, New Zealand ⋅ 🌙 14 °C

Finally it is our day off! We slept until 12 pm and the day was hot and sunny like summer should be! After the autumn feeling weather was it a good change!

Hopefully the weather will be tomorrow as good as it was today😁

We had washed our shoes the night and they looked like new. Yes!

Manon needed to work today and we wanted to visit her and eat ice cream. We finally got to the one, they were telling us about the whole time.

After that we did grocery shopping and got back to our room at the farm. There we shortly talked to Alan. The Said to me that he is glad when i am back at work cause it is f*ucking busy. 😄

We cooked the same meat we had at the BBQ the days before (it is so yummy!) with cucumber and Feta!

And for the evening we will relax in our room and maybe Skype with friends and family 🙌

  • My 20th Birthday

    30. januar 2017, New Zealand ⋅ ☀️ 16 °C

So the title says it, today is my 20th Birthday! 🎉🍹🎊
Yes, like everyone keeps saying 'Still a baby', yep now you know how I feel 😄

The night before (29.01) I skyped with my dad and my sister Ashley. It was really good to 'see' them again, cause it is so hard to find a good time/day to make that! And of course we need a place with good Wifi and Power! 💻🔌Tim and I were playing games on the Laptop🖱 and later he skyped with his best friend Dawid. A few minutes before the clock would show midnight, Dawid wanted to play against me in a mobile game. Sadly I lost, but it was after 12am when we finished the game. So I played into my birthday 😄📱🖱 Dawid started to sing and Tim gave me Birthday kisses 🤗💋
We stayed awake until 5 am and played the whole time.
We wake up at 11 am and started lazy in the day. Tim played Counterstrike with Dawid and I stayed in bed.

The weather was really good today and later the day I began with getting ready. Julia (a nice girl who also works here with us) comes to our room and gave me a little birthday present! I didn't thought about getting presents! She gave me some good Oreo Chocolate! 🍫
We decided to go to a restaurant and ended up in Lone Star. It looked very good and the prices told us it must be good, too! 😂
I choose Prawns and Tim some medallions.
    Wow, that food was awesome!!!

After we finished our meals, we drove to the campground cause Maria had made some cake and had asked us if we wanted some. She had made a really delicious chocolate cake!🍰
And she gave me the best present I could get (except from the dinner with Tim) a Pan! A simple pan! 🍳
But it was the right thing, cause I have told her like five times that our pan was a piece of sh*T! 😂 She also got some good Wine for everyone!

What a nice day! I am the luckiest girl on earth! 👱

  • Pigletinvasion

    4. februar 2017, New Zealand ⋅ ☀️ 18 °C

Today was a really hot day again, which is great. So we drove to the ice cream shop later that day, but before we went into town, because we had a dayoff today and looked around the shops. I got some new high heels for a cheap price and they are so beautiful!

When we cooked later, the piglets came to us. Because in the garden there is a plum tree and the babies are eating them. And during eating them, they had probalby smelled our food.
There were like 20 piglets around :D

  • Why?

    5. februar 2017, New Zealand ⋅ 🌙 14 °C

This week isn't much about to work, because there is nearly nothing to do anymore. Yesterday we had a day off and today we worked from 8am until 11 am. And that's it. We couldn't believe. And therefore we wake up early?

We picked Strawberries and after three weeks I needed to pick to. That was so strange. But we could have known that there isn't much work for the day.

After work Alan made some Coffee for Tim and me and we had a nice little chat together. He is really nice and likes to talk a lot! But that's good, he always has something to talk about.

At 12 o'clock we met at the ice cream shop with the others (Manon, Jacob, Andrea) to enjoy the ice cream there. Tim got strawberry and raspberry (yes we can still see and eat Strawberries after seeing them everyday 😄) and I got boysenberry with lemon-passionfruit-sauce. Sooo good!

We talked a lot, Manon and I were talking about make-up and everything and it was sooo great to talk with someone over it! Because I can't really talk over make-up and girly things with Tim, I mean I could but it is different.

Later the day we met again at the campground and the fact that Alan has given me some older plums, means that I wanted to do some plum cake for us. I did the whole cake with my hands, like no help from a machine.

The cake takes so long to be ready to eat but when it was done, it tasted so amazing!

We decided to do BBQ again and like everytime we got the kepabsticks, this time with onions, and cucumber with good Danish feta! Yummy!

We were talking and talking until I got to much pain because of my period and at 9 pm we went back to our room at the farm.

Tim called his sister Lisa via Skype and now we are going to play some minecraft!

And the weather was sooo hot today! So summer hasn't end!

  • Ice Coffee again

    6. februar 2017, New Zealand ⋅ ☀️ 16 °C

Manon told us that the Cookie Ice cream from Tip top is great and the best, we decided to try it. And of course we wanted to try it as a ice Coffee! 😁☕

And yes the ice cream is soooo good! 😍

Sadly that we do not have ice cream like this back home.

We didn't finish the whole ice cream and put it in the freezer from Dot and Alan without their knowledge 😄
But we had a day off and they didn't find out about it.

  • All alone

    8. februar 2017, New Zealand ⋅ ☀️ 14 °C

Today Tim and I were complete alone in the shop. The day started with rain and it continues pouring all day. I needed to paint the shop and Tim needed to do things outside.
It was a long day. We were alone because Dot flew to Alan that day. So she called me in between that I need to pack Strawberries for a customer in Auckland. (That's what you can see on the picture)Læs mere

  • Not Pita Pit but Selfmade Pita

    10. februar 2017, New Zealand ⋅ ☀️ 16 °C

Today was just a normal day. Alan wasnt there and that means I needed to watch after the shop and pick strawberries at the same time. It is way better than doing something in the shop, because I am outside, see the sun and you don't need to hurry up.

In the evening, I don't really want to eat some fastfood or take away, so Tim drove me to Pak n save to do some grocery shopping, because I was planning to do some filled Pita. He wanted to get some Pizza, but 5 minuted later, he called me that it was so overfilled that he would need ages to even make an order. So I shopped for two and we made a very delicious Pita!

  • Day off for everyone, but...

    11. februar 2017, New Zealand ⋅ ☀️ 18 °C

But not for me. Yes, i worked the whole day. None of them told me that i would work that long. Tim and I wanted to do some stuff like getting a new tyre, maybe clean the car etc. but that wasnt possible. Alan told me that he had the idea that i can work today, because we will leave next week. I think, that this is a nice thought but sometimes you need to relax and have a day off. In the morning I needed to pack everything like always. Apricots, corn, nectarines, red and brown onins and potatoes for the first time. In New Zealand all people are asking you which potatoes you are selling. They always want to know the name of them. In Germany no one would give a f*uck about the name or the variety.
However, my next job, and the job for the rest of the day, was painting again. It is so boring.😥🖌

At 5:30 pm i could finish. Yeah. What a good day. And the weather wasn't good, too. NO it was such the perfect weather. Not too hot, not too cold, the sun was shinning the whole day and i was inside, painting the shop.

Tim slept until 1 pm and played after that minecraft. He was waiting for me the whole day.

For dinner we had made fishburgers. 🍔🐟 They tasted really good. And for dessert we had brought ice cream, but I think it wasn't the best idea, because we had stomach pain after eating it.

And like always we finished the day with two episodes of Family Guy. 💻

  • Minigolf with the Chech

    12. februar 2017, New Zealand ⋅ ☀️ 15 °C

Our work today was about three and a half hours long. Simply, there is nothing to do then picking the strawberries every two to three days. On the one side we were very happy about the short work day, because it was getting really hot again, but on the other side we wanted to work to get more money for travelling on. And the fact that we are leaving on tuesday FINALLY!!! means that i am not going into the packhouse and shop anymore. They will train a new girl who will do the things i did. Her name is Michelle, i dont wonder why she becames the new shopgirl. Almost the same name makes the things easier for Dot and Alan (they need ages to remember names!).

We went to the city to do some shopping like Pak n save, Countdown and have a look at the shop Farmers. Manon told me about it and was absolutly in love with this place and of course the make up there. And yes, she is right, i could spend a whole day in that shop! :D

At 3 o'clock we meet the chech Andrea and Jakob. We played Minigolf and it was a lot of fun! They are so nice and we always have so much fun together. The boys were much better than Andrea and me. I knew from the beginning i will loose. But that's okay, it is just a game. What matters is that we had fun! :)

Later we had some bread with cream cheese, pastrami and salat. I normally do not like sausage on my bread, because it tastes awful but pastrami with cream cheese is soooo good!

For the rest of the day/evening we will play minecraft and watch Famly Guy before we will go to bed.

  • Rainy days are annoying days

    13. februar 2017, New Zealand ⋅ 🌧 16 °C

It was like the heaviest rain we had here in Masterton. And of course everyone needs to work. But after two hours everyone who wants could finish ( because they were completely wet). And at eleven everyone except me, Laura and Michelle could finish.
Yes, we needed to pack Strawberries.
My only wish was to go back in bed and cuddle with Tim. It was like the perfect 'sunday'.

    But only one day left!

  • Finally!

    14. februar 2017, New Zealand ⋅ 🌙 13 °C

Today was our last day working for Alan and Dot!😍
    Yes, we finally made it!
We didn't do really much today. I painted again the shop and picked strawberries in between and Tim needed to bring Block four (strawberries used to grow there) down.
At 4 o'clock we were done!

We were so lucky about it. But now we need to do other things, like washing, cleaning, packing etc. And of course getting a new tyre 😄

At seven we met the chech couple at the campground to do our last BBQ together. We had some Hoki fish with baked potatoes. The French/Canadian couple, I didn't tell something about them before, did join us. They are really nice persons and had spend the last two years living in Australia. Now they want to travel New Zealand before he will study and she will work in Canada.

We had a lot of fun, like everytime we met!👌😍

Jacob and Andrea did remember more german words they have learned in the Chech Republic. And the French guy did know the German word 'Kartoffel' for Potato! 😄 Jacob sang again a german song, something about 'ring ring das Telefon ringt' 😂

Andrea had made some really good Tiramisu with kiwifruit and banana. Jacob doesn't like Banana. So she did a part for him without it. He is very special about what he likes to eat and what not. Like fresh fruit and vegetables are okay (not everything) but almost nothing cooked.

We are thinking about to meet this guys again on the south Island, because their ferry will go on Saturday and we probably will stay on the north island for one more month.

Tomorrow we don't need to get up early! Yes!

    15. februar 2017, New Zealand ⋅ ☀️ 17 °C

Oh yes, that feeling to sleep as long as you want is soo good. We slept until 11am and I continued doing the washing. We have some many things to wash. It's unbelievable 😄 But the washing machine is not big at all.

We went into the city for a new tyre and washing the car. The washing was good and quickly done, but to find a cheap secondhand tyre is so hard. Nobody do sell second hand ones or at least the expensive ones.

Maybe we will find a better mechanic in another town.

In the evening we went again to Lone Star

  • Rain is always there

    17. februar 2017, New Zealand ⋅ 🌧 18 °C

Now as you can read from the title, it was raining again. Ah I am so tired of it! We can't really do much besides driving. 😐🌧

On our way we had seen the 'Twin Lakes' but not as good as we could have seen them, because for a really good view, you had to go on a little hill but with the rain there was no chance to do this. Furthermore it was really foggy, and the view wasn't the best. There were more to see but it was impossible.
But that's not a problem because we can't see everything that's recommended to see. 😁

Oh and the guy in the car on the picture probably hates rain because he walked his dogs with the car! 😂 haha incredible idea for not getting wet.🐕

  • On the road again - Whanganui

    18. februar 2017, New Zealand ⋅ ☀️ 21 °C

Our destination for the evening was a bigger city called Whanganui. We had driven all day along the Westcoast, through Palmerston North, where we got super delicious sushi 😍🍣🍤, until we arrived at 5pm in Whanganui. It is such a beautiful city, nice houses, big river and a little bit out of town there's the beach.

Sadly we can only stay one night because we want to see a lot in short time. We are planning to go to the South Island in March, so that means we don't have a lot of time left to explore everything from the North Island we haven't seen 🙉

  • National Army Museum - Waiouru

    19. februar 2017, New Zealand ⋅ 🌧 17 °C

In December we went all the way down from Hamilton to Masterton and on our way we had seen the National Army Museum of New Zealand. But hadn't enough time to visit it.

So today was the day of visiting the National Army Museum! The weather wasn't the best, but that's not a problem at all. We spend a few ours there and had seen a lot! Everything from 19th century in Africa, to New Zealand war history or the WWI and WWII. And a lot of weapons how they change during time and lots of old stuff like flags, papers, coins, letters, photos, stories ...

Outside of the museum were a few tanks, but of course no real ones! 😉😊

After that it was so hard to find some food because the town just got a petrol station, fish n chips, a expensive pizza place and Subway.

But I thing you can guess what we took.😊
