Segovia

Went for a lovely walk along the river this morning. In the city, but feels completely removed - very quiet with natural vegetation everywhere. Great views of Alcazar and the cathedral. Coffee, wine and tapas break in a lovely non- touristy part of town for a late morning tea. Then second part of our guided walk around the town. Gorgeous laneways, cobblestones and balconies. Tim and I had tickets for a 2pm entrance to Alcazar, which is called 'the fairytale palace'. This didn't disappoint! Very well done, self guided audio tour around the palace, then a scheduled climb up the tower. Magnificent views from the top. On one side we looked down into a stork's nest on the top of a very tall tree.
Met Cathy & Phil coming out, so all went to get a very late lunch/dessert of Segoviano Ponche Cake at about 4.30.
Bought tickets to look around the very ornate cathedral and Episcopal Bishops' Palace.
Dinner of cod filled red peppers and Segovian Bean soup served by an extremely surly waiter!En savoir plus
