    Vienna Day 1 - Rick Steves and museums

    Today, we took 6 am flight from Stockholm to Vienna, and first thing, embarked on Rick Steves tour. It gave us a basic overview of the city. Vienna is simply stunning - perhaps, due to the renaissance of the 1900s, and wealth of Habsburgs dynasty. We went to the St Stephen’s Cathedral, the main cathedral of Vienna. We then had a quick lunch or tiny delicious sandwiches - Trziensky is an institution that has been around for over 100 years. In the afternoon, I first went to the Sisi museum and Royal Apartments, all in the Hofburg palace. I was fascinated by the story of Emperor Franz Josef and his wife Elizabeth, or Sisi. She was a strong independent woman, and the love of his life. Their Royal apartments felt much more alive than other palaces. I then went to the main Art Museum and marveled at incredible collection of the Old Masters.Read more
