Another beautiful morning! Jude and Barney cooked us a beautiful breakfast and then we all packed up to leave.
We meandered our way up the coast until we got to Kawakawa Bay. This area holds special memories for me as my Grandpa lived here and we had many holidays and adventures there.
We let the dogs have a run and swim, then crossed the road and had a coffee at the little cafe/giftshop.
Driving into Maraetai, we were surprised to see how busy it was. The first freedom camp was full of cars, so we went to the next site at Omana and managed to get a good spot with some grass for the dogs. It wasn't long before we realised that dogs are completely prohibited, so we packed up and arranged a night at a powered pop site in the Bombays (Moya Lodge).
What a gorgeous site! $20 a night with power and water and freedom to wander the whole grounds! Marley and Diesel loved the creek, getting themselves very wet and muddy. They weren't sure what to make of the Sulphur crested cokatoo who kept calling out "hello". A horse also has the run of the grounds too. Marley kept barking at the poor thing.
I finally got a full hot shower. Our gas hot water striker isn't working for some reason, so sponge baths have become the norm this week.
