It was so good to catch up with our new friends Vicki and Boycey. They very kindly told us we could park up on their driveway for as long as we liked, which honestly felt like absolute luxury after being on the road. There’s something about having a real hot shower again, sitting around a proper fire, and just being in a homey space that resets you a bit.
Saturday ended up being a bit of a split mission. Vicki and I headed off for a good old op shop circuit (which is always dangerous in the best way), while Neil and Boycey got stuck into building railings on their back porch. Neil’s idea of relaxing is “helping with a project”, so he was in his element — happy as anything, tools in hand, solving problems. Two birds, one stone.
The dogs absolutely adored Vicki and Boycey, which is always a good sign. In fact, I’ve decided if anything ever happened to Neil and me, I already know the dogs would be very well looked after there — they’ve definitely picked their backup home.
They live just around the corner from a lovely park, and we ended up taking the dogs there multiple times during our stay. It became one of those easy little routines that suited everyone perfectly.
