Day 4 - Nürnberger Hütte

After a buffet breakfast, we set off into the mist at 9:15, climbing steeply to the Italian 🇮🇹 border post at a high col. We descended via some via ferrata and a snow patch or two, and had lunch next to a stream, sitting on the old discarded bridge.

The signpost said 30 mins to the Nuremburger Hut, but it took us an hour and involved more VF.

It was worth the walk though, and rightly deserved its reputation as the most welcoming of the Stubai huts, with award-winning cuisine three-years running!

After Teewasser and Pass the Pigs, we had showers at a luxurious €1 for 2 mins of hot(ish) water.

Dinner was the half-board menu and stated with delicious soup, MYO salad and mains of vegan, veggie and meaty variety, all featuring the small tasty mushrooms 🍄‍🟫 that are a local delicacy. Dessert was chocolate mousse with or without cream.

Managed a partially successful game of “Icons of Modern Architecture Happy Families” followed by a fully successful game of Alpine Hut Pairs for curious baby penguins 🐧
