Boat Trip to La Maddalena and Caprera

Today we rented a boat and planned a trip to the Maddalena Islands.

The islands are home to some of the most beautiful beaches in the Tyrrhenian Sea and around Sardinia. Our trip started from Isuledda, and we planned to see Cala Napoletana and some other beaches.

My brother Dave visited Isola Spargi last year, which lies west of La Maddalena and is also known for its beautiful blue bays. Unfortunately, the weather was windy and the sea was rough, so the woman at the boat rental warned us not to go that way.

But, as my family is, we obviously knew better.

Just as she had warned us, we started having problems with the waves and the wind. The rough sea pushed us way too close to the island of Spargi. Eventually, we hit the rocks near the shore and crossed into the safety area where boats aren't allowed.

My brother's girlfriend and I jumped into the water, grabbed the ropes and basically played Baywatch. We swam to the shore, pulled the boat away from the rocks and managed to get it back out to sea beyond the safety area.

After that little accident, my father apparently thought: "Well, we almost died — let's go even further into the stormy wind."

He and my brother wanted to continue around Spargi and straight into the waves, which drove me absolutely crazy. I'm not a bad person, but at that moment I was ready to fight my dad and my brother, kick their asses off the fucking boat and bring us back to La Caprera myself.

And in the middle of all this chaos, there was one poor dog: Freddy.

He was tired, wet and scared, and I think he will never set foot on a boat again.

In the afternoon, it started getting cloudy and windy again, and the way back was full of waves. But somewhere in all of this chaos, I realized how much power the human body can find when we're in danger.

And apparently, when shit hits the fan, I can be a badass leader.. :)
We didn't see Cala La Napoletana, but at least it was an adventure.
