Well, finally managed to get to Tirana. Had a missed connection in Milan, so had to stay there overnight. Early morning flight got me into Tirana at 10am. After dropping my bag at the hotel, as well as Scott's bag who had checked out of his hotel, we went to pick up the tickets. Then it was down to the main square, Skanderberg, for a few beers. We met up at Maria Teresa Square, where the Tartan Army chartered buses were, all thirty of them. And we even got a police escort 😂

Mid way to Shkodër we stopped at a service station for a comfort break, where every toilet, wall and hedge was used 🙈.

Arriving in Shkodër about four hours before the game, we seeked refreshment. We had to move to several others as they kept running out of beer 😳

The game itself was fairly easy, unusually for Scotland. Especially once Albania were down to ten men after a red card, eventually winning 0-4.

We returned to a fairly quiet Tirana, but managed to stay out to 4am, until Scott had to leave for his flight.Read more

My original flight from Tirana was meant to leave at 7:30am, getting me into Edinburgh mid afternoon, via a short stop in Venice. However it got changed the day before to leaving at 12:45pm, meaning there was no connection available. Luckily the tour agent had a connection guarantee so they organised a hotel and flight the next morning.

So I organised to meet up with friends Robert and his wife Gwen in the city centre. I showed them a few of the sites before having a meal, then finding a nice bar which we stayed in for the rest of the night. We were also joined by a couple of younger Tartan Army guys who were also forced to stay overnight.

At the end of the evening, because my hotel was on the mainland, I had to navigate through the narrow and twisted passageways to get to the bus terminal to catch a taxi. I did have to ask directions a couple of times 🤔🤣Read more
