Amed was a gorgeous little village in Bali, full of scuba diving schools.

Steven is now a qualified scuba diver and Amy snorkeled for the first time.

Amy finally getting over her fears of fish! Snorkeling with baby black tip reef sharks was an incredible experience.

Certainly less scary than swimming with whale sharks.

Kuta was a very touristy part of Bali, lots of resorts and expensive restaurants.

We spent the majority of our time here with our laptops and studying.

After a layover in Bangkok and nearly 27 hours of travel, we finally arrived in Chiang Mai. The first thing we did? Took a much-needed nap to recover!

Chiang Mai had some really cool bars and restaurants, some offering board games so we managed to have a beer and play dominos one evening. We explored some of the beautiful temples within the old part of the city before moving to a different part of the city.

We booked an unforgettable ethical elephant sanctuary experience whilst in Chiang Mai. The elephants are pretty scary when you are so close but we were able to make friends with the elephants by feeding them bananas and sugar cane. It was a really fun experience and we ended the day with bamboo river rafting.. we got absolutely soaked!Read more

Our stay in Chiang Rai consisted of a cat cafe and some cool temples.

We visited the White Temple, officially known as Wat Rong Rhun. The temple was designed by a Thai artist who began the project in 1997. The hands are beneath a bridge called 'Bridge of Rebirth' and inside the temple there are murals of traditional Buddhist iconography with contemporary references (no photos allowed).Read more

We took the slow boat from Chiang Rai to Luang Prabang, the journey takes 2 days with an overnight stay in Pakbeng.

We arrived in Luang Prabang just in time for Boun Heua Fai (also called Lai Heua Fai), the festival celebrating the end of Buddhist Lent and the monsoon season, known as the "Festival of Light" or "Festival of Fire Boats."

We watched the parade through the city, candle-lit fire boats made of bamboo were carried along and being released into the Mekong River. We joined in the tradition by placing our own handmade offering—floats decorated with candles and flowers—onto the water.

Vang Vieng is known for its river tubing, although it is much tamer now.. with only 2 bar stops instead 12!

We signed up for a hot air balloon ride but unfortunately it was cancelled due to the bad weather.Read more
