Muckadilla - Augathella - Blackall

Heute morgen ging es nach einem kleinen Zmorge und ein bisschen Bird Photography dann sofort wieder los mit der nächsten Etappe!
Unser Ziel war Barcaldine!

Nach einer guten Fahrt bis nach Augathella wo wir tankten und dann im bekannten Meat Ant Park den Spielplatz stürmten und Zmittag assen, haben wir es aber dann nicht weiter als Blackall geschafft! Dort mussten wir wieder in ein Hardwarestore weil unser Kühlschrank und die damit verbundene Batterie/Solaranlage nicht richtig funktionieren will!

Jetzt sind wir auf einer Powered Site auf dem Blackall Caravan Park und die Batterie hängt am Charger und die Wasserleitungen sind geflickt!

Josh ist schon vor dem Znacht eingeschlafen und auch Ryan schnarcht schon friedlich!!

Wir sind auch im Bett und morgen gehts weiter mit dem Ziel weiter als Longreach zu fahren!

EVERYTHING’S BIGGER IN AUSTRALIA.

The meat ant is the mascot of Augathella, a small town in western Queensland, Australia. The town chose the enormous insect as its mascot not because it’s overrun with the (much smaller) real-life version, but because of its football team.

Apparently, in the 1960s, the local football team was rather aggressive out on the field (meat ants are aggressive toward other ants). The football players also wore maroon jerseys and blue shorts, which matched the colors of a meat ant’s body.

The Big Meat Ant was installed in 2011. Created by artist Amanda Feher, the brass, copper, and steel sculpture was part of a $250,000 project to attract tourists to Augathella. It’s now the centerpiece of the aptly named Meat Ant Park.Baca lagi
