• Day 33, copacabana

    February 4 in Bolivia ⋅ ☁️ 11 °C

We woke up fresh, bit too late for the hotel breakfast. So we went out and got us some pancakes with fruit, jugo and coffee at the lake 😊 we decided to climb the mountain and picked up our cameras first. The beginning of the way was quite ok. But at some point it seemed that the only way up was via a very small and steep path. Nina did her best, but had to turn around because of being afraid of heights, and she saw she was never going to make it 😅 Eike still wanted to go to the top, so Nina was waiting there for him. The way up was really not easy. It was steep and you had to breathe much. It was climbing not walking anymore. But at the Top of the mountain Eike had an awesome view over Copacabana and the lake Titicaca. On Top (4100m) were some inka stuff to see and old men took care of it. But also christian memorials were to see, bigger and more "impressive" then the inka ruins/memorial. Eike spend 20min on top, enjoyed the view, took fotos and gave respect to the inka memorial by leaving coca leaves there. Of course chewing them too 🍃🤤 After 1.5 hours we met again. We walked through the town, but the town was still hungover. Half of all shops and restaurants were closed. Today was the day the people let their cars be blessed, and we saw some trucks who were nicely decorated with flowers for this. We also saw a family with a champagne bottle posing for a picture in front of their nicley decorated car. The car even had a hat! We came to the other side of the mountain that eike climed, and we saw the easy route, which was like stairs and less steep😅 we walked around some more and drank a lemonade from a lady at the lake. We also had three different kinds of empanadas (mushrooms, vegan curry, and cheese, tomato, basilicum), who were really nice. The peruvian people said all the time that they had better food than the people of bolivia, but so far we liked the food from bolivia better, probably because of the vegetables and the vegetarian options😅. We enjoyed the evening by walking by the boulevard at the lake with sun and wind. For dinner we got a traditional food from a lady who was frying pollo and chocle on the street. For two portions not even 5euro. It was really good made. During the day we also got bus tickets to la paz and booked a hotel there. Now we are chilling at the hotel, but not much will happen today anymore 😘Read more
