• Day 39, Torotoro Tyranno territorium

    February 10 in Bolivia ⋅ ⛅ 13 °C

Our day began really early, we woke up at 6.15am to get ourselves to the land were the dinosaurs once ruled the earth! Our minibus driver took us from cochabamba to torotoro in 2.5 hours, lucky cause we thought it took us 4 hours. It was a nice ride, we could a powernap and saw also one of the beautiful landscapes we ever saw! You could see the tectonic erruption all over the place! The last bit of the trip was exciting. The rockformations are just layers lying on top if eachother, so a bit of rocks slided down on the road, so at some point there was a rocky shortcut because on the real road there were too many rocks. Also a bit later there was a piece of the road missing. That had fallen down on the closed part of the road. Adventure time!
We had a nap first, and then explored the village and got entry tickets for the park, and booked a tour for tomorrow. Sadly we are not allowed to hike on our own. Torotoro is a beautiful small village with houses and streets made of the stones from the area around. The village is completely in dinosaur theme and there are dinos everywhere. It is kind of funny to see such a small place with old houses and fancy big dino statues everywhere 🤭 we love it! There are also a lot of street dogs who are all really nice and come to us to get some cuddles 🥰 unlike Boefie in oyantaytambo, these dogs walk away again at some point.
We ate something and also got some groceries for our trip tomorrow. Nina was looking for a cap, because the sun really burns on your head, but all the caps were way too big. Then she decided to get a really ugly, touristic, big hat. If she needs a hat, then pick the ugliest! 🤣 After we hang out in the streets and met a really nice local guy called apolinar who is 58 years old and lived his whole life in Torotoro. We sat with him for few ours with some beers, funny conversations and chewing coca leaves. 😊
Bolivian spanish is different to peruvian spanish. It is a bit more difficult but doable. Slang and stuff! We enjoyed our first day here and went to bed.
