Today we made a special point of visiting the small village of Anzin-Saint-Aubin as 100 years ago to the day, Doug's Great Grandfather was in this exact same village serving as a soldier in WW1. WhatLes mer
We spotted this in the distance and went to check it out. It was an Abbey that was destroyed during the French Revolution and then again during WW1. They decided not to rebuild.

Doug climbed back up Vimy Ridge this afternoon from the Canadian side in the area where John Kennedy fought. He checked out some fields for war relics and was able to find shrapnel.
