    We picked up our camper van, which will be our home for the next three weeks as we explore the South Island. The van is relatively new and in great condition. We even were given a GPS which we were not expecting - useful for keeping below the speed limit. Very handy in the circumstances, as we learned the day before that we exceeded a speed limit in Australia by 3 miles per hour and can now expect a fine of circa £100.00.
    We took a visit to Pak n Save, a local supermarket, to stock up on food and the essentials and drove south to Grumpy's camp site near Geraldine - a farming community in the hinterland to make our plans for the trip.
    The journey took us through flat lands where cattle farming prevailed.
    Grumpy's site was very quiet and relaxing with a communal camp kitchen. Grumpy did not live up to his name - he was very amicable.
