    Urunga

    March 1, 2020 in Australia ⋅ ⛅ 26 °C

We woke to glorious sunshine and pure blue skies. We spent the morning on the beach - we drove down to a patrolled beach at Hungry Heads, as the beach here in Urunga is wild and unsupervised. We then drove to the nearby remote headland where we spotted our first kangaroos of the trip - in the bush next to the road side.
The following day was another scorcher - someone told us it got to 40 deg C in nearby Bellingen - our trip for tomorrow. We drove round into the Bongil Bongil National Park, which is one of the parks campaigners are hoping to merge into a large Koala Reserve. We did the Bluff Walk - 3 k within the forest fringe behind the beach then a 3 k walk back along the sand - very pleasant but no Koala to be seen.
After that we went to Sawtell for a couple of hours on the beach. The surf was mighty and great fun. The sea was a perfect temperature and cooled us down a little.
The following morning before we breakfasted A took a walk along the boardwalk across the lagoon - a Little Egret was fishing in the shallow water making the most of the tide being out.
