    Lizard

    2 de setembro de 2020, Inglaterra ⋅ ⛅ 17 °C

Our first full day on the Lizard Peninsula was spent on our feet as we walked from our site to the South West Coast Path. The walk took us over the cliffs via The Devil's Frying Pan to Cadgwith, a small fishing village, on our way to Poltesco. Cadgwith is a beautiful village with many thatched cottages on both sides of a valley. The Cadgwith beach was full with inshore fishing boats - we watched one pulling in nets in the bay in front of us. Fish and crabs had been loaded into vans for distribution to local businesses.
Poltesco is the site of an old pilchard processing factory and stone masons - the old ruins of the building is all that is left in a small cove with its pebble beach. (Carleon Cove)
After lunch, which we had on the beach, we returned to site - picking blackberries on the way. The hedgerows are full of plump fruit, and we managed to pick over 4lbs of fruit today. We are enjoying eating a mix of stewed fruit on top of our daily porridge. Today's foraging should keep us going for a while!!!
