  • Keuka Lake adventure

    August 12, 2024 in the United States ⋅ ☀️ 21 °C

Heading out early to explore the wineries around Keuka Lake. 1st stop was Hunt Country (they opened at 10a, so why not). Back up to Point of the Bluff; great views, wonderful wines, and fun host.
Down along the lake to Dr. Konstantin Frank - beautiful local, enjoyed a flatbread with our flight. Great recommendation from Scott Barone. Final stop was to Great Western/Pleasant Valley. Always an interesting, educational tour followed by a superb Champagne tasting.
Back to the house for a great dinner of grilled chicken and local corn on the cob. Of course, accompanied by a wonderful Fume Blanc.
Ended our day with a trip to a local creamery, so many choices. Everyone had a different flavor.
    What another full day!
    Cheers!

  • East side of Keuka Lake

    August 13, 2024 in the United States ⋅ ☀️ 26 °C

Didn't have anything planned for today, slept in, had a leisurely breakfast of coffee and blueberry pancakes. Went to a local butcher shop found a couple of great steaks, summer sausage and cheese. Decided to pack up our lunch and head to Keaka Springs for a tasting and lunch. Then down to Weis winery. Home to work on the puzzle and prepare for our vertical tasting of '17, '18, '19 and '20 Raylen Cab Sauv. 17 and 19 were wonderful. 2017 we had with our appetizers figs stuffed with gorganzola and wrapped in proccutto. Next is the 2018 with our salad of Spring greens and Barata. Salad was great, wine not so much. Peggy grilled the steaks perfectly on a little charcoal grill we picked up. (The hardest thing about renting an Airbnb, is not knowing what exactly they have or don't have. Their description doesn't give all the details.)
Anyway, after an interesting game of 'Ticket to Ride',, we had the 2020 Cab with creme brule: maple flavored and chocolate. They were both good, but the chocolate one was so good with the Cab.
End of another fun day, off to bed, for tomorrow brings on more adventures!

  • Seneca Lake wineries

    August 14, 2024 in the United States ⋅ ☀️ 27 °C

Today was Seneca Lake wineries. Beautiful weather and interesting wines. They grow different grapes here than in NC. We had packed sandwiches for lunch, but the places we knew you could bring food, didn't have license to sell wine for you to drink on property. Well, what they don't know won't hurt them. Back to the house to work a little on the puzzle, brats and Italian sausage with corn on the cob for dinner. More cards then early to bed. Thursday is our last full day here.
    Cheers!
