Next cruise stop is Saigon, Vietnam

We sailed over to Vietnam's largest city, Saigon( aka Ho Chi Minh City since the end of the Vietnam war) for an overnight stay. We selected a Boutique hotel called Bon Ami close to the downtown sights and market. We walked all over Saigon, saw lots of great shopping and the sights of the helicopter evacuation of the city in 1975 from the rooftop of a CIA safe house. We had a drink on the rooftop bar where the news correspondents stayed during the war and briefly went into the Hanoi Hilton where our POW's , including John McCain spent 7 years as a prisoner.
We learned that Hannah, Kevin's wife andour tour hostess for our next trip segment, is a world class negotiator, especially for jewelry. We took advantage of that to buy a gorgeous set of pearls, with a gold and emerald broach incorporated into it at a huge market across from our hotel.Read more
