Road to Mongolia

    Almaty with Yerke Bulan

    It all started with me walking into the BMW dealer in Almaty in search for tires and spare parts for my motorbike. Then i met Yerke.
    He was so kind to help me search Almaty for the ride tires for my motorbike.

    As we got talking turns out, he also likes motorbikes and is doing enduro sports. I told him I have never done it but I really like the idea of it and I’ve always wanted to try .

    Next thing I know, I am at his apartment, visiting motorcycle tire shops, at his mothers house having tea and then sitting on one of his amazing new and powerful KTM Enduro bikes.

    It turned out to be the adventure of a Lifetime, the riding is very intense and difficult, but a lot of fun. He is a very good rider and has won many championships in Almaty and he was showing me the mountains of his city.

    5 hours in it is getting dark I have fallen around seven times and his petrol is running out. Not to mention my cramps 😂. So we decide to head back, with enduro bikes through the city.

    Yerke and his family invited me to stay at their place as well! I got to enjoy a wonderful local foods.

    We spent the next two days together, and he even took me to one of his friends Privat Saunas.

    It was an amazing experience, and I am very thankful to Yerke and his family for their amazing hospitality. See you another time my freind!    Baca lagi

    Russia 2nd time

    Smoothest border crossing so far 30 minutes Kazakh side 15 minutes Russian side no questions nothing…?

    In over two months on the roads, it was the first actual campsite I stayed at. They had a great little beach bar that served breakfast for €3 and coffee for 30 cents.

    As with my last entry as well, everyone is super friendly and welcoming in the country    Baca lagi

    Novosibirsk Новосибирск

    Stopped in Novosibirsk for a night to get a propper BMW service for my bike. Surprisingly, the dealer had everything except spark plugs due to the sanctions. I had for these previously and put them in Kazhastan, so we had everything we needed.

    Moreover, I was surprised to see the service was one third of the cost as Vienna.

    Met some guys doing a tour through Russia on a BMW as well.

    Everyone was super friendly, and now we are ready to go another 10,000 km    Baca lagi

    Rainy days

    I think I found Russia’s rainforest, locals have been saying it has been raining for seven days
    I am heading down to a lake (Teletskoye) where I will cross with a ferry on my motorbike. Sounds kind of fun.
    It is a very green area with beautiful nature, seems like alot of Russians spend their holidays here as well.
    On the way to hear, I passed through a famous pine forest in Biysk. Apparently the wood from the forest is the wood that was used to build Venice with in Italy. 🤷‍♂️ So Russians here say they bulit Venice.
    Due to the rain i stayed at a lovely campsite.    Baca lagi

    Meet Stan, Mike and co

    After spending the six hours, on the ferry. I decided to continue my journey together with Stan. He had done this route previously by bicycle, and now it was his first time on a motorbike.
    We were very unlucky with the weather, but nice off road awaited us. On the journey, we saw lots of Eagles many motorbike riders and even an old car collector.
    We then went to Stan’s friends place (Mike).
    I was welcomed at the campsite and stayed there for two nights. Turns out Mike, Stan and the other guys used to be punks in Russia during their student times and once a year they get together. They had many funny stories great campfires, and loads of whiskey.    Baca lagi

    Entry Mongolia

    Finally reached the last country of my trip, Mongolia.
    Blackout in the city means no ATMs work no petrol stations and rain mains. Lots of flooding but apart from that beautiful so far !!

    Tsambagarav Uul National park

    Initial plan was to go west, but as it turns out one needed a permit due to it being a border region. So I went east to a National Park.
    As it has been raining heavily in the last few days, there was plenty of water. A few times I was not too sure I should cross but had to anyways. I had one close call with sinking the bike.
    I drove to the peak on around 3000 m, parallel to a lovely glacier. I met a German and Austrian couple who were in pretty robust cars doing a similar route as mine.    Baca lagi

    White Beach

    Giant rock? 🦬

    13 Ogos 2023, Mongolia ⋅ ☀️ 25 °C

    So apparently this is a famous Mongolian monument.

    The story goes that a dangerous snake was eating lots of locals in the area. And a big hero stepped up and pushed a snake into a hole and to avoid the snake coming out ever again. He put a rock on top. 🤷‍♂️

    Was quite touristic, though, not much to see to be honest, some nice buffalo like decorated animals.
    On the way, there also drove past a beautiful canyon.

    And so close to the end goal, I had my first bigger crash. On an easy road a lack of concentration led to me catching a rock with my luggage. Nothing hurts and all in piece.

    I quickly fixed up the windscreen again with some cable ties and a hammer for the aluminium cases. As good as new 👀.

    As a reward, I got myself some carrot cake and good coffee    Baca lagi

    Ulaanbaatar Улаанбаатар

    Final destination for the motorbike. From
    Here i will do a 9 day trip
    Through Gobi desert with my father who came here by plane. Was great to spend 3 days with him.
    The motorbike will stay in Ulaanbaatar and be prepared for shipping.
    We have rented a 4x4 and are excited to see what comes our way!    Baca lagi
