Day 7 - Goodbye Cancun 👋

Today was our travel day back to Toronto. Our flight wasn’t until 7pm so we wanted to relax near the pool one last time before we check out and shuttle back to the airport. We woke up as usual and saved some chairs by the pool before heading to the pool. We all had one last breakfast buffet. I forgot to mention that we had become close with one of the servers at the buffet restaurant since the beginning of our trip! He was so sweet and kept joking around with one of my friends that she should meet his son 🤣 He even showed us a picture of him LOL! It was all fun and jokes but he’s so kind, he even got us all Cancun key chains on our final day! And he brought us a goodbye cake too 🍰 So sweet 🥹
One of my other friends REALLY wanted to drink from a fresh coconut before we left. On the final day, she made it a mission to find one of the grounds keepers to ask if she could get a coconut. Normally, the hotel sells coconuts to the tourists for 150pesos each, which is like $12CAD. Pretty expensive… 😬 But she succeeded! She found some workers and with her limited Spanish, they were so nice to give us 5 whole coconuts! They just chopped them down and were ready to pack them up but we came and asked and they gave us so many, and were going to give us more! There were only two of us there at the time so we couldn’t carry more to our friends, so we just took 5 LOL! 🥥 We ended up tipping them 100 pesos, but they didn’t even seem like they wanted the money! 😆 Also very kind people!
The coconuts themselves were so refreshing and cool! Perfect for the weather! They also were HUGE and filled with so much water! That lasted me a while lol!
After the refreshing drink, we left to go back to our rooms to pack our things and head to checkout. We were able to grab our final lunch at the buffet. In the afternoon, we didn’t want to put on more sunscreen so we decided to hide out in the cafe for a bit. We got our final cafe drinks and just chilled in the air conditioned shop. My friend left and found the grounds keepers and got 3 more coconuts LOL 😂
We left the shop to wait in the lobby area for our shuttle. I was sooooo tired, so I took a little nap in the couch area LOL!
Finally our shuttle arrived and we were on our way back to the Cancun airport. We checked our bags in and got through security pretty smoothly. I had airport lounge passes from my credit card, so I took all my friends to the Cancun lounge. It wasn’t that great but had some food to snack on.
We went to our boarding area and boarded the plane back to Toronto!
Overall it was a really fun and relaxing trip! I do wish I could have explored outside of the resort, but due to the recent events happening in Mexico, I was a bit hesitant leaving the resort grounds.
All the workers at the resort were so kind and helpful to the tourists! We got close to some of the staff and it was great cause they treated us so well! 😄
My favourite day was definitely the day with the silent disco. That was such a fun event and it’s been on my bucket list forever! 🎧
Anyway, I hope to go back to Mexico again one day, maybe next time to Mexico City because I’ve heard the food and drink scene there is amazing! One day! 💕Leggi altro
