    LEJOG DAY 12

    ToClaptonof Gordano. 21.4 miles. 238.4miles

Photo of last night’s sunset. A dull start from Weston super Mare on a route not many would take - but actually very good and swift along a cycleway. Met by Colin and Finn for tea and Hotxbuns. Then onwards on paths through fields avoiding dykes, along by the M5 and onwards to Clevedon. Stop for butties then up onto the hill above. Past Cadbury Camp( an iron age fort - no chocolate) and down to Clapton in Gordana with the lovely old Black Horse for cider. First view of the Severn Bridges- quite emotional.

    DAY11 LEJOG

Good night at the coast and back to our estuary to walk. England Coastal path along flood defences. Dreich then drizzly but good walking. Met Colin and Finn and onto Burnham on sea where Majji bus was waiting with pasties, tea and hotxbuns. Onwards along the beach for 6 miles to Brean. Past a very unusual lighthouse. Quick refreshment stop and on to Weston Super Mare. Parked up above WSM with lovely views and brighter skies.

    LEJOG DAY10

19.5m to Bridgwater. An overcast day but good walking. Muddy paths and roads but good going. Almost got stuck at some dykes on Somerset Levels but slithered down and across. We’re getting used to Sunday am Greggs- Taunton this time. Very nice too!
Met by the ever faithful Majji bus and Colin in a wee village for hotxbuns- still on these! Stopped at Bridgwater, some cider and chips. Drove to the coast for the evening and parking up spot. Lovely. Finn delighted with the millions of pebbles.

    LEJOG DAY 9

23.4 miles bringing us up to 178.5m total. Finally some heat - but my feet seem to prefer cool! From Bickleigh to Bradford on Tone near Wellington. Now in Somerset. Walked along the Grand Western Canal that has been refound. Stopped at a lovely coffee and cake stop

More people walking than we’ve seen. Then lots of mud too. A couple of great fluid and food stops courtesy of Colin and we made it to Bradford. Parked up at Sheppy’s cider place. Wonderful.

    LEJOG DAY 8

21.3 miles. Another wet start. Rain remaining till midday😟. But with Colin’s great support, with crumpets and tea we trundled on. Chatted to a friendly chap with knowledge of horse racing in Crediton, who donated. Then onwards to Thorverton. Decided we had enough energy to go up and over to Bickleigh by the raging River Exe. A lot of Road plodding again but remarkably ok.

    Day7 LEJOG

Some early rain but ended in glorious sun. Almost warm! Walked on edge of Dartmore, Tarka trail,Devon Way ,Granite way and more - but still quite a bit of tarmac. Our locked footpath of the day was a flooded underpass meaning a 3/4 mile extra 😟Met a lovely Devon man clearing drains and 2 amazing ladies in the Spreyton community shop. A lovely pint ofDevon cider in the pub. Pasties and Tunnock’s still powering us along too.

    Day 6 LEJOG to Bridestowe

Storm Noah ensured a wet and windy day with added sleet and hail. At least it was at the back of us mostly. Launceston was a nice old town ( up a hill!) and a pastie shop. Passed the 100miles and left Cornwall behind. More lanes and muddy paths and ended at pub in Bridestowe. 19.4 miles and 7 or so ahead of schedule.

    Day 5 LEJOG

Poor weather forecast meant an early start over Bodmin Moor and Brown Willy. Rain started just as we reached the top. Met Colin. Wet descent to motorhome. Managed to drag ourselves out again for a further 6 miles.

Congrats on getting over Bodmin Moor - getting close to the Devon border. Fantastic progress. I love trig pillars, maybve something to do with me being a retired Land Surveyor. In the old days you had to drag heavy measurimg equipment (and batteries) up to the trigs. GPS has made them redundant now.

19m Started off in rain. Lots of mud, a few tricky footpaths, long wet grass. Scrounged a cup of tea from a self catering place I’d stayed at a couple of years ago. Weather improved as the day went on and a pleasant yomp along the Camel Trail.

    LEJOG Day 3

Frogpool to Indian Queens. 22miles. 743 metres ascent on beautiful quiet lanes. Truro on Easter Sunday morning was very quiet. And the cathedral a little unwelcoming- so we went to Greggs! Lots of Chiffchaffs, a few squirrels, very few cars.
