The Kenai Peninsular

We leave Whittier and its deteriorating weather behind us and travel through the unique Anton Anderson tunnel to the western side of the coastal range. The tunnel is single-way and shared by vehicle traffic and trains. Timings are strictly set and no stopping allowed. The promised improved weather conditions on the other side failed to appear. It’s more of the same, with the local information centre informing us that the Kenai Peninsula is in for a protracted period of rain and cold weather. Great! Our first stop is the village of Hope, where at least the rain stops long enough to have a brief walk around town.Læs mere
