    Greymouth / Franz Josef Glacier

    26 de noviembre de 2019, Nueva Zelanda ⋅ ⛅ 14 °C

Greta gave us quite a shock, as she developed quite a rash on her upper body. We first thought that she might have caught measles (currently there‘s a heavy measles outbreak in New Zealand), as she had a couple of those symptoms, but luckily it was just the typical rash after the 3day fever. 😬

After 2 hours driving we finally arrived at Franz Josef Glacier (named after Franz Josef I from Austria-Hungary). We were expecting to be in mountainous area, but we were still admist rainforest 😂 As the weather forecast for tomorrow‘s rain, we quickly headed to the Glacier valley, as we wanted to see some ice. The track was easy (as most of the popular walks in NZ) and signposts along the way showed us how far the glacier went back due to climate change. It‘s a bit frightening.

The night we spent at the Rainforest Holiday retreat. A nice campground in the city surrounded by rainforest.
