Nong Khiaw

We took a very bumpy 4 hour van ride from LP up to the small town of Nong Khiaw.

We are in the poshest resort in town, and it's nice but rustic. We're thankful for the pool!

The town is on a peaceful river, and surrounded by massive karst outcroppings. Feels a little bit like leavenior Banff.

The vibe is definitely backpackers, hostels, and guesthouses. And many outdoor activities such as climbing up (steep) trails to lookouts, exploring caves, boat trips, kayaks, and multi-day trekking. Bill climbed up to one lookout and it was hard going. We also explored one cave, a little.

But it's hazy/smokey this time of year, and we're not feeling super adventuress, so we're mostly taking it easy. It's a cool little town, for sure.Read more
