    Wachau and Wine

    September 27, 2018 in Austria ⋅ ☀️ 15 °C

At noon Karl and Erika come and we start in direction Wachau for the first time. We cross the Danube and drive up to Maria Taferl. On the marketplace of the small town there are all sorts of typical trinkets to buy at the market stalls. In the newly-covered church, we marvel at the many images of saints on the walls. From the church square, we enjoy the great view of the Danube and the Wachau and then treat ourselves to a coffee in the sunshine in an outdoor dining area. Afterwards we start our actual goal today: the wine taverns of Gerda Piller and her husband. It is already true tradition that we come here on our austrian holidays. Every time there are excellent Austrian specialties and good wine. This time a bus full of Bavarian mayors arrives with musical instruments. It is played and joked and laughed. Each of us was having a good time. Sometime at midnight, unfortunately, we have to go home.Read more
