    Unfortunately, the weather today is not for trips around the area. That's why we decide to stay home and cook for ourselves. There are a Tajine with couscous. This dish is a traditional food everywhere in Morocco. We like to cook and eat it, because it tastes good and it is easy to prepare.

    Leider ist das Wetter heute nicht für Ausflüge in die Umgebung geeignet. Deshalb beschließen wir, zu Hause zu bleiben und selbst zu kochen. Es gibt eine Tajine mit Couscous. Dieses Gericht ist in ganz Marokko ein traditionelles Gericht. Wir kochen und essen es gerne, weil es gut schmeckt und einfach zuzubereiten ist.    Leggi altro

    We intend to drive to Kilb in the restaurant of the family Pitterle. Unfortunately we have to accept, that the restaurant is closed today. Finally, we end up in China restaurant in Traisen. We are unlucky on all lines. The food does not taste so good here today. We return home and rest for the rest of this day.

    Wir wollen nach Kilb ins Restaurant der Familie Pitterle fahren. Leider müssen wir feststellen, dass das Restaurant heute geschlossen ist. Schließlich landen wir im China-Restaurant in Traisen. Heute ist überhaupt nicht unser Tag. Wir haben nur Pech. Sogar das Essen hier schmeckt heute nicht so gut. Wir fahren schließlich heim und ruhen uns den Rest des Tages aus.    Leggi altro

    In this morning, Dave can watch Karl cut and season the pork and prepare it for smoking. Afterwards we drive to St.Agyd to a farmer and then to Herzerl-Mitzi and eat several Schnitzel.

    An diesem Vormittag kann Dave Karl beim Zerlegen, Würzen und Räuchern des Schweinefleisches zusehen. Anschließend fahren wir nach St. Agyd zu einem Bauern mit vielen interessanten Tieren und anschließend zur Herzerl-Mitzi und essen dort verschiedene Schnitzel.Leggi altro

    Wachau and Wine

    At noon Karl and Erika come and we start in direction Wachau for the first time. We cross the Danube and drive up to Maria Taferl. On the marketplace of the small town there are all sorts of typical trinkets to buy at the market stalls. In the newly-covered church, we marvel at the many images of saints on the walls. From the church square, we enjoy the great view of the Danube and the Wachau and then treat ourselves to a coffee in the sunshine in an outdoor dining area. Afterwards we start our actual goal today: the wine taverns of Gerda Piller and her husband. It is already true tradition that we come here on our austrian holidays. Every time there are excellent Austrian specialties and good wine. This time a bus full of Bavarian mayors arrives with musical instruments. It is played and joked and laughed. Each of us was having a good time. Sometime at midnight, unfortunately, we have to go home.

    Mittags treffen Karl und Erika ein und wir starten zum ersten Mal Richtung Wachau. Wir überqueren die Donau und fahren hinauf nach Maria Taferl. Auf dem Marktplatz des kleinen Ortes gibt es an den Marktständen allerlei typische Kleinigkeiten zu kaufen. In der neu eingedeckten Kirche bestaunen wir die vielen Heiligenbilder an den Wänden. Vom Kirchplatz aus genießen wir den herrlichen Blick auf Donau und Wachau und gönnen uns anschließend einen Kaffee im Sonnenschein auf einem Gastgarten. Anschließend machen wir uns auf den Weg zu unserem eigentlichen Ziel: den Heurigen von Gerda Piller und ihrem Mann. Es ist schon eine richtige Tradition, dass wir im Österreich-Urlaub hierher kommen. Jedes Mal gibt es hervorragende österreichische Spezialitäten und guten Wein. Diesmal kommt ein Bus voller bayerischer Bürgermeister mit Musikinstrumenten. Es wird gespielt, gescherzt und gelacht. Jeder von uns hat seinen Spaß. Irgendwann gegen Mitternacht müssen wir leider wieder nach Hause.    Leggi altro

    Mountains and Wuchteln

    The first thing we do today is going to Kilb for the Pitterle family's "Backhendlstation". After a hearty lunch, we drive along steep rocky slopes over the narrow panoramic road over the mountains to Mitterbach. We actually wanted to take the chairlift to the summit, because from there it's a magnificent view to Mariazell. Unfortunately, the lift is not in operation today. So we turn towards Annaberg and drive into the romantic Fadental to the Hubertus lake. There we make a Stop at the Wuchtelwirtin and eat with pleasure the Wuchteln.

    Als erstes fahren wir heute nach Kilb zur Backhendlstation der Familie Pitterle. Nach einem herzhaften Mittagessen fahren wir entlang steiler Felshänge über die schmale Panoramastraße über die Berge nach Mitterbach. Eigentlich wollten wir mit dem Sessellift auf den Gipfel der Gemeindealpe fahren, da man von dort einen grandiosen Blick bis nach Mariazell hat. Leider ist der Lift heute nicht in Betrieb. Also biegen wir Richtung Annaberg ab und fahren ins romantische Fadental zum Hubertussee. Dort machen wir eine Einkehr bei der Wuchtelwirtin und essen genüsslich die Wuchteln.    Leggi altro

    Dirndln

    The last day of our vacation has begun. For today is a visit to Dirndlkirtags on the program. It is a market day that is held once a year in the neighboring valley, each time in a different location. The theme is the rosehip, from which very special specialties are made, such as liquor, schnapps, pastries, jams, chutneys and much more. Moreover, the day is the day of the Dirndln, which means that the people here are almost all dressed in costume and a dirndl is a special, traditional, Austrian and versatile dress. Dirndl can also mean girls in dialect. We stroll among the countless visitors through the village. Everywhere stands the market stalls and the music plays. Young girls dance folklore, we drink cider and watch the fashion show. Finally we drive to a restaurant for lunch. Then it's back home. We have to pack our seven plums. Tomorrow we have to get out early and to the airport. Unfortunately, our vacation together is already over! The weather gods were kind to us, and it was wonderful to experience this tour together.

    Der letzte Tag unseres Urlaubs ist angebrochen. Denn heute steht ein Besuch des Dirndlkirtags auf dem Programm. Es ist ein Markttag, der einmal im Jahr im Nachbartal und jedes Mal an einem anderen Ort stattfindet. Thema ist die Hagebutte, aus der ganz besondere Spezialitäten hergestellt werden, wie Schnaps, Gebäck, Marmeladen, Chutneys und vieles mehr. Außerdem ist der Tag der Tag des Dirndls, das heißt, die Menschen hier sind fast alle in Tracht gekleidet und ein Dirndl ist ein besonderes, traditionelles, österreichisches und vielseitiges Kleidungsstück. Dirndl kann im Dialekt auch Mädchen bedeuten. Wir schlendern zwischen den unzähligen Besuchern durch das Dorf. Überall stehen die Marktstände und die Musik spielt. Junge Mädchen tanzen Folklore, wir trinken Apfelwein und schauen uns die Modenschau an. Zum Abschluss fahren wir noch in ein Restaurant zum Mittagessen. Dann geht es wieder nach Hause. Dave and Mary haben noch zu packen. Morgen müssen wir früh raus und zum Flughafen. Leider ist unser gemeinsamer Urlaub schon wieder vorbei! Der Wettergott hatte es gut mit uns gemeint und es war wunderschön, diese Tour zusammen zu erleben.    Leggi altro
