    Alghero

    First we want to see the most scenic road of Sardinia. I have read about it in a travel guide. It begins south of Alghero and should be rocky and steep with little, fine and lonely beaches. After 10 km we are getting disappointed and turn arround. This road was not that breathtaking experience as expected. So we go to the Maria Pia beach which is known as the most beautiful beach of town. And it is! In the evening we go for dinner to the old city. The swordfish in the restaurant in the city center is not that good but expensiv. After having a last coffee and icecream we return to our apartment.

    Zuerst wollen wir die landschaftlich reizvollste Straße Sardiniens erkunden. Ich habe in einem Reiseführer davon gelesen. Sie beginnt südlich von Alghero und soll felsig und steil sein und kleine, feine und einsame Strände bieten. Nach 10 km sind wir enttäuscht und kehren um. Diese Straße war nicht so atemberaubend wie erwartet. Also fahren wir zum Strand Maria Pia, der als der schönste der Stadt gilt. Und das ist er auch! Abends gehen wir zum Abendessen in die Altstadt. Der Schwertfisch im Restaurant im Stadtzentrum ist jetzt nicht so gut, aber teuer. Nach einem letzten Kaffee und einem Eis kehren wir in unser Apartment zurück.    Okumaya devam et

    Olbia, Sardinien - Chivitiavecchi

    The day before we decided to take the ferry from Olbia to Chivitiavecchi and booked it too. So today we drive back across the island to Olbia and drive punctually at noon onto the ferry. The crossing takes five and a half hours. Most of the time we sit in the lounge and play or read. From Chivitiavecchi we drive 9 km to our apartment in Santa Marinella. We buy some groceries in a nearby shop and have dinner.

    Gestern haben wir uns entschieden, die Fähre von Olbia nach Chivitiavecchi zu nehmen und haben sie auch gebucht. So fahren wir heute über die Insel zurück nach Olbia und pünktlich mittags auf die Fähre. Die Überfahrt dauert fünfeinhalb Stunden. Meistens sitzen wir in der Lounge und spielen oder lesen. Von Chivitiavecchi fahren wir 9 km zu unserer Wohnung in Santa Marinella. Wir kaufen noch in einem nahegelegenen Laden ein paar Lebensmittel ein, kochen und essen zu Abend.    Okumaya devam et

    Rom

    We had already decided before the holiday, not to go by car in the Italian capital. We wanted to avoid this stress. That's why we had booked the apartment outside of Rome and hoped that everything else would be somehow. And then it was really that easy. From Santa Marinella there is a train that goes directly to Stazione San Pietro and from there it is only about 650 m walking distance and we already are standing directly in front of St. Peter's Basilica. A very long line of people is standing in front of the security gate. Karl has to return because of his fax knives. He looks at the hallowed halls of the Catholic Church after Mary returns. Dave and I go up to the dome. Then I lose Dave behind me and come alone at the top. From here I have a fantastic view of St. Peter's Square and Rome. In search of Dave I go the 537 steep steps of the dome a second time up and down and find him again at the entrance to the lift! After that we take a hopon hopoff bus for a city tour and a visit to the colloseum and then we head back to Santa Marinella by train for only € 18.40 for all of us.

    Wir hatten schon vor dem Urlaub beschlossen, in der italienischen Hauptstadt nicht mit dem Auto zu fahren. Diesen Stress wollten wir vermeiden. Deshalb hatten wir das Apartment außerhalb von Rom gebucht und gehofft, dass alles andere schon irgendwie klappen würde. Und dann war es wirklich so einfach. Von Santa Marinella fährt ein Zug direkt zur Stazione San Pietro und von dort sind es nur noch ca. 650 m Fußweg und schon stehen wir direkt vor dem Petersdom. Vor der Sicherheitsschleuse steht schon eine sehr lange Menschenschlange. Karl muss wegen seiner messer umkehren. Er schaut sich die heiligen Hallen der katholischen Kirche erst an, nachdem Maria aus dem Petersdom wieder herauskommt. Dave und ich gehen hinauf zur Kuppel. Dabei verliere ich Dave hinter mir und komme alleine oben an. Von hier aus habe ich einen fantastischen Blick auf den Petersplatz und Rom. Auf der Suche nach Dave gehe ich ein zweites Mal die 537 steilen Stufen der Kuppel hinauf und wiede hinunter und finde ihn am Eingang zum Aufzug wieder! Anschließend machen wir mit dem Hop-on-Hop-off-Bus eine Stadtrundfahrt und besichtigen das Kolosseum und fahren anschließend mit der Bahn für nur 18,40 € für alle zurück nach Santa Marinella.     Cassino, Italien

    We arrive in Cassino at lunchtime and immediately move into a beautiful apartment we had previously booked. Then we head to the nearby Montecassino. This is a monastery was totally destroyed in the second world war and got later rebuilt after the original plans. All art treasures of the monastery were brought to Rome by a German officer to safety before the monastery was destroyed. More than 20,000 young soldiers lost their lives on Montecassino. Today, the monastery is back in the old splendor and you have a magnificent view of the beautiful landscape around.

    Wir kommen mittags in Cassino an und beziehen sofort ein schönes Apartment, das wir zuvor gebucht hatten. Anschließend fahren wir zum nahegelegenen Montecassino. Dieses Kloster wurde im Zweiten Weltkrieg völlig zerstört und später nach den ursprünglichen Plänen wieder aufgebaut. Alle Kunstschätze des Klosters wurden von einem deutschen Offizier in Sicherheit nach Rom gebracht, bevor das Kloster zerstört wurde. Mehr als 20.000 junge Soldaten verloren auf Montecassino ihr Leben. Heute erstrahlt das Kloster wieder in alter Pracht und bietet einen herrlichen Blick auf die wunderschöne Landschaft rund um.     Vesuv

    From Cassino to Pompeii it is not very far and so we reach the Fauno Apartment in the morning. We quickly find a bus up to Vesuvius. After 40 minutes we are already in the parking lot just below the crater. I have to go up without the others, who are waiting for me at the snack bar. I have an hour until the bus goes down again. It goes steeply uphill. Then a trail leads along the crater rim to the other side. In the crater, it even smokes a bit. From this place you can look down directly on Naples, but more and more clouds obscure the view. The hour is pass by fast and I have to get down to the bus.

    Von Cassino nach Pompeji ist es nicht mehr weit und so erreichen wir morgens das Fauno Apartment. Schnell finden wir einen Bus hinauf zum Vesuv. Nach 40 Minuten stehen wir schon auf dem Parkplatz direkt unterhalb des Kraters. Ich muss ohne die anderen hoch, die am Imbiss auf mich warten. Eine Stunde habe ich Zeit, bis der Bus wieder runterfährt. Es geht steil bergauf. Dann führt ein Pfad am Kraterrand entlang auf die andere Seite. Im Krater raucht es sogar ein wenig. Von hier aus kann man direkt auf Neapel hinunterblicken, doch immer mehr Wolken verdecken die Sicht. Die Stunde vergeht wie im Flug und ich muss runter zum Bus.    Okumaya devam et

    Pompei, Italien

    Today we visit the famous Pompeii. From our apartment it is only 10 minutes walk. First we see the amphitheater and then we walk through the streets of the ancient city. We are very impressed with the size. You can really see how nice that once must have been and how well organized the people were at that time already. Thousands of tourists as we are walk around here, many in groups with guides. It is very hot. After a few hours we have nevertheless seen enough. We go for having an ice cream and then back to the apartment.

    Heute besuchen wir das berühmte Pompeji. Von unserer Wohnung sind es nur 10 Minuten zu Fuß. Zuerst sehen wir das Amphitheater und schlendern dann durch die Straßen der antiken Stadt. Wir sind sehr beeindruckt von ihrer Größe. Man sieht deutlich, wie schön es hier einst gewesen sein muss und wie gut die Menschen damals organisiert waren. Tausende Touristen wie wir tummeln sich hier, viele in Gruppen mit Führern. Es ist sehr heiß. Nach ein paar Stunden haben wir trotzdem genug gesehen. Wir gehen noch ein Eis essen und dann zurück in die Wohnung.    Okumaya devam et

    Amalfiküste - Bari

    From Pompeii we go to Positano and then along the Amalfi Coast. The views are really breathtaking. Its unbelievable beautiful. It takes some hours to drive along this road. Of course its curvy and so much traffic because of the many tourists. But we enjoy each moment. After then we cross the country and reach Bari just in time to check in for the ferry to Dubrovnik.

    Von Pompeji aus fahren wir nach Positano und dann entlang der Amalfiküste. Die Aussicht ist wirklich atemberaubend. Es ist unglaublich schön. Die Fahrt dauert einige Stunden. Natürlich ist sie kurvenreich und wegen der vielen Touristen sehr stark befahren, aber wir genießen jeden Moment. Danach durchqueren wir das Land und erreichen Bari gerade rechtzeitig zum Check-in für die Fähre nach Dubrovnik.    Okumaya devam et

    Dubrovnik, Kroatien

    We arrive Dubrovnik at 8:00 in the morning. It promises to be a nice day again. First we are looking for accommodation. At the third try we get a very nice apartment with a great view to the old city and its mighty wall arround it. Even our car gets a safe place under a carport. Parking is very expensive here. They charge at least ten € per hour or eighty per night in a garage and 130 € for parking along the road!
    Over 320 stairs, it goes down to the old town. Groups of tourists surround the city walking on the city wall. In the city is a dense crowd. We have breakfast in front of a restaurant in a shady small lane and then we look arround in the city and later we return to our rooms. In the evening we have a great dinner next to the old city.

    Wir erreichen Dubrovnik um 8:00 Uhr morgens. Es verspricht wieder ein schöner Tag zu werden. Zuerst suchen wir eine Unterkunft. Beim dritten Versuch bekommen wir ein sehr schönes Apartment mit tollem Blick auf die Altstadt und die mächtige Stadtmauer. Sogar unser Auto findet einen sicheren Platz unter einem Carport. Parken ist hier sehr teuer. Mindestens zehn Euro pro Stunde oder achtzig Euro pro Nacht in einer Garage und 130 Euro für das Parken am Straßenrand!

    Über 320 Stufen geht es hinunter in die Altstadt. Touristengruppen umrunden die Stadt und spazieren auf der Stadtmauer. In der Stadt herrscht dichtes Gedränge. Wir frühstücken vor einem Restaurant in einer schattigen Gasse, schauen uns dann die Stadt an und kehren später in unsere Zimmer zurück. Abends genießen wir ein tolles Abendessen in der Nähe der Altstadt.    Okumaya devam et

    Dubrovnik - Mostar - Torgir

    We leave Dubrovnik heading Mostar. At the border to Bosnia Herzogewina we have to leave some tips for the border guards because the forgotten insurance green card. The landscape is not very exciting. When we arrive Mostar we are surprised about the people amounts. The bridge looks great. It was destroyed during the war in 1993 and is rebuilt with the help of international donations.

    Wir verlassen Dubrovnik Richtung Mostar. An der Grenze zu Bosnien-Herzegowina müssen wir den Grenzbeamten Trinkgeld geben, da wir die Grüne Versicherungskarte vergessen haben. Die Landschaft ist nicht besonders aufregend. Als wir Mostar erreichen, sind wir überrascht über die vielen Menschen. Die Brücke sieht toll aus. Sie wurde 1993 im Krieg zerstört und wird mit internationalen Spenden wieder aufgebaut.    Okumaya devam et

    Arriving from Torgir at the Camp Milan in the apartments at noon. We go for a swim the afternoon and have a delicious dinner in the restaurant near of the campingsite in the evening.

    Ankunft aus Trogir am Camp Milan in den Apartments um 12 Uhr. Nachmittags gehen wir schwimmen und abends essen wir im Restaurant in der Nähe des Campingplatzes sehr lecker zu Abend.Okumaya devam et
