Salzburg to Innsbruck! Officially Alps!

The rain finally let up after nearly a week of rain! I didn’t realize that I’d not gone more than a days ride from Salzburg for nearly 7 days due to the weather. Finally Sun in the forecast (and the timing of my good friend Ari arriving) has urged me to keep pedaling. I quickly learned that Germans aren’t too fond of switchbacks, because the first mountain road I tackled went nearly straight up, and straight down! That meant pushing my bike for some distance as it was far too steep to pedal. I’ve arrived in Innsbruck Austria (I’ve been toeing the border of
Germany and Austria the last couple weeks) is where I’ll stay for the next few days until Ari arrives. Then we’ll pedal deeper into the Alps! Hopefully the weather holds out.Read more
