    Off we go again

    September 2, 2023 in Australia ⋅ ☀️ 16 °C

Another quick run to test everything out. We hung out with Brad & Aiden briefly in the morning before heading off. We left around 11:30 and did a straight run to Corrimal Beach tourist park. We set up and went for a wander. We looked around some small local shops, the iga, bakery, takeaway shop, etc, then wandered back towards the beach. Dogs are allowed on a leash after 4pm, so we walked over the bridge to Towradgi for a look. It was pretty cold with the southerly breeze coming through!
We had some drinks and snacks before deciding on Bonno's pizza for dinner rather than battling the wind with the cooker. Very chilled evening and an early night.

    Happy Birthday to me!

    September 3, 2023 in Australia ⋅ ☀️ 16 °C

The alarm went off at 8am, I'd been stirring for a little bit beforehand. We all went to the bathroom then walked to The Pantry for a coffee and breaky wraps. Lovely, dog friendly spot.
We headed back to the camper to get ourselves ready and showers. The boy was quite sleepy but was fighting it in case he missed out.
Popped into Corrimal woolies for a few bits we'd forgotten.
Lunch was booked at Headlands on Austinmer. Beautiful spot but barely any bloody parking. They were flat out (understandably) so they were a bit overwhelmed with seating and a bit slow with service. It was lovely either way. Lots of other dogs in the beer garden where we were sitting. Pup got himself comfy on the outdoor lounge after we saw plenty of other dogs making themselves comfortable.
Birthday lunch means seafood and cocktails! Sooo good!
It was a late lunch, so we headed back for a nap and a beach stroll at sunset.

    Wollongong things

    September 4, 2023 in Australia ⋅ 🌬 18 °C

Up and moving, ready to pack up and move to our next spot at Shoalhaven. It's only about 45 minutes south so we were there quite early. The ladies said that as soon as the campers on our site move, we can set up. That was only a very short wait. We're on the waterfront but holy damnnn it's windy!
Once set up we headed back up to Wollongong itself to the Illawarra brewery for lunch. We went for a cruise around afterwards to Flagstaff lighthouse and Lake Illawarra. We'd packed the SUPs but it's farrr too windy to have an enjoyable paddle today. We headed down to Kiama to the blowhole and lighthouse for a look and a wander.
Back to camp for dinner and a read before bed.

    Day tripping

    September 5, 2023 in Australia ⋅ ⛅ 20 °C

The agenda for today was a bit of a road trip, popping in and out of a few little towns.
First stop was Robertson where Ben got one of their famous pies and I got a carrot cake muffin, so good! We saw the big potato, which looked like a big something else, and stopped in at the cheese factory.
Next was Kangaroo Valley, we wandered through the main street, looking at the shops and a few little cafes. We weren't hungry yet so kept moving.
Cambewarra lookout was next on the list. Such a beautiful view, I think Sandra suggested it on a previous trip but we hadn't gotten there. They have a restaurant at the lookout too, very popular by the looks of it!
We cruised to Berry next, feeling pretty hungry. There were so many dog friendly options, but we settled on the Southern Hotel. Damn good feed. Ben had a Brisket burger and I had a prawn roll. Quality! We couldn't go to Berry and not stop at the Donut Van. Got ourselves a pack to snack on and take back to the campsite. We had a quick cocktail stop at The Hill at Gerringong on our way back. Top spot!
When we got back to the camper our neighbours were out for a chat, they had a laugh about how awful the wind was last night and asked us about the red dirt still on the ute, they thought we mightve been full time travellers (the dream!). We set ourselves up for a drink and some snacks overlooking the beach. Much nicer spot when it's not blowing a gale!
