Navarrenx—Jour de Repos (Rest Day)

I’m really impressed with this historic city and the fortress surrounding it. The walls must be over 30 feet high. They surround the city and command the heights over the major navigable river in this part of France (Le gave d'Oloron). The original Fortress dates to the 1300s; it took its present form in the 1500s.

I’ve visited a museum built into the walls of the fortress. At display of artisan tools at the museum reminds me of Dexter’s history. I recognized tools for carding and spinning cloth and making shoes in Navarrenx France.

The French adapt these historic places with museums, art galleries, and athletic facilités. It’s not perfect historic preservation. Linking the history to current community needs helps people invest in maintaining the structures that have survived history.

We had a surprise downpour this morning. I had just put out my laundry to dry on the line. I raced back to my accommodations to rescue my laundry, but my host had already moved the laundry inside to dry.

I am very happy sitting in café. I’m having a wonderful salad and a zero alcohol beer. As a bonus, I the distinctive twang of Mark Knopfler’s guitar keeps me company. I am well pleased.Læs mere
